The Role

OpenTrain is recruiting an AI Audiobook Narration Evaluator to assess English text-to-speech audiobooks. You will listen as an audiobook audience member while applying a careful analytical standard, identifying where generated narration sounds natural and where errors interrupt the listening experience.

This remote freelance engagement combines audio quality review, issue categorization, precise annotation, and model feedback. Consistent attention and accuracy across many hours of listening are essential.

• Pay: $20-$25 per hour
• Work arrangement: Remote, part-time contractor engagement
• Expected availability: Approximately 20 hours per week
• Experience level: Entry level

What You'll Do

You will evaluate the naturalness, accuracy, and enjoyment of AI-narrated audiobooks in English. Reviews should reflect both careful quality analysis and the practical experience of listening to an audiobook.

• Listen to AI-narrated audiobooks in English
• Identify skipped, added, or mispronounced words
• Detect incorrect number readings and abbreviation errors
• Flag unnatural phrasing and unusual intonation
• Identify audio artifacts and other issues affecting quality
• Categorize each issue accurately
• Mark the precise span where each issue occurs in the review tooling
• Assess overall listener satisfaction

Requirements

This role requires native or near-native fluency in US or North American English and the ability to recognize the qualities that make audiobook narration enjoyable. You should be able to communicate observations clearly in working English and maintain patient, detail-oriented accuracy during extended listening sessions.

• Ability to identify pronunciation, phrasing, intonation, and audio artifact issues in synthesized speech
• Familiarity with audiobook listening standards and factors that affect listener satisfaction
• Ability to maintain consistent accuracy across extended listening sessions
• Availability for approximately 20 hours per week on a part-time basis
