The Role

OpenTrain AI is hiring U.S.-based African American voice actors to record high-quality speech for next-generation text-to-speech systems. You will perform conversational, narrative, instructional, and similar scripts while maintaining a consistent voice, accent, pacing, and pronunciation.

This is an entry-level, part-time contractor role requiring 20 or more hours per week during the project period. Compensation is $50 to $100 per hour.

What You'll Do

You will follow detailed recording instructions and deliver clean, natural performances across a range of scripts and styles. Multiple takes may be needed when the project calls for different emotions, emphasis, or delivery approaches.

• Record voice samples for training and evaluating speech models
• Deliver clear, natural, and expressive performances across varied scripts
• Maintain consistent accent, tone, pacing, and pronunciation across sessions
• Follow instructions for the recording environment, microphone setup, and file formatting
• Provide alternate emotional or stylistic takes when requested

Requirements

Applicants should be able to deliver natural African American English voice performances and follow scripts precisely without losing an authentic, conversational delivery. A professional or near-professional recording setup is required.

• U.S.-based African American English voice delivery
• Experience in voice acting, dubbing, narration, podcasting, or broadcasting
• Quality microphone and a quiet, suitable recording space
• Strong command of intonation, diction, and emotional range
• Ability to follow scripts precisely while keeping delivery natural
• Reliable availability throughout the project period
