OpenTrain is the centralized platform for people building careers in AI training and data labeling. We help experienced professionals find and manage high-quality AI training work, consolidate proof-of-work into a single profile, and turn short projects into a durable freelance portfolio.
As the hiring organization for this role, OpenTrain offers structured projects where your domain expertise is the product: apply your accounting judgment to shape how AI systems understand professional finance work.
About AI Training Work
AI training (also called data labeling or human evaluation) is the human side of building intelligent systems. Experts create and review examples—rating outputs, writing justifications, and defining what excellent work looks like—so models learn professional standards.
This role puts accounting subject-matter expertise at the center of evaluation: your judgments will define reproducible grading standards that improve model outputs used across finance workflows.
The Role
You will score AI-generated and human accounting samples against task-specific grading criteria and write clear, evidence-based justifications explaining each score. Work products include reconciliations, close packages, financial statements and disclosures, audit-ready workpapers, and technical accounting memos.
The role emphasizes consistent, defensible judgment, rapid calibration with senior reviewers, and the ability to translate professional accounting standards into repeatable evaluation rubrics.
What You'll Do
Design and document grading criteria for accounting deliverables and professional work products.
Score AI-generated and human samples and provide concise written explanations for each rating.
Apply consistent judgment across reconciliations, close packages, financial statements, disclosures, workpapers, and technical memos.
Evaluate US GAAP application, month-end close quality, and overall audit readiness.
Incorporate feedback from senior reviewers, refine scoring approaches, and help calibrate other evaluators.
