About OpenTrain

OpenTrain is the #1 platform for finding and building careers in AI training and data labeling. OpenTrain AI is hiring and contracting contributors for projects that help shape how next-generation AI systems learn from high-quality real-world data.

  • Remote contractor opportunity
  • Worldwide project
  • Expected commitment of less than 20 hours per week
  • Expected project duration of 1 to 3 months

About AI Training and Video Data Collection

AI systems learn from examples collected and prepared by people. Video contributors help create the real-world footage models need to understand movement, environments, activities, and vehicle navigation. This work is part of a fast-growing field where contributors directly influence how modern AI performs.

  • Contribute real-world video to AI training
  • Support autonomous-driving perception and activity understanding
  • Work remotely with flexible part-time availability

The Role

As a 360° Video Recorder, you will capture immersive, high-quality footage of yourself performing natural, everyday activities in indoor, outdoor, and vehicle environments. Recordings may include third-person views of daily activities and vehicle navigation tasks.

You must already own or have access to a compatible camera with at least a 170° field of view and minimum 720p recording resolution. The role is intermediate level and requires conversational English proficiency.

  • Role type: Contractor and part time
  • Location: Remote, worldwide
  • Subject matter: Autonomous driving perception and real-world activity data
  • Experience level: Intermediate

What You'll Record

You will follow assigned collection instructions to record continuous footage that clearly shows the relevant activity and surrounding environment. Each clip must be at least 60 seconds long, and vehicle recordings must use a secure vehicle camera mount.

  • Natural everyday activities
  • Indoor and outdoor movement
  • Walking and moving through different environments
  • Vehicle navigation and driving-related activities
  • Other similar real-world activities included in collection instructions

Camera and Mounting Requirements

Compatible equipment includes qualifying 360° or action cameras from Insta360, DJI, GoPro, or other manufacturers. You do not need to own the required mounting equipment before applying, although having a compatible backpack or vehicle mount may allow you to begin collecting sooner.

For third-person recordings, the camera must be mounted above and behind you, angled slightly downward, and positioned far enough back to keep your full body visible during normal movement. The setup must remain stable and preserve the required perspective.

Handheld selfie sticks, chest mounts, shoulder clips, and stationary tripods do not meet the required third-person perspective. Reasonable costs for required mounting hardware may be reimbursed.

  • Minimum 170° field of view
  • Minimum 720p recording resolution
  • Compatible examples: Insta360 X3, X4, X5, or X6
  • Compatible examples: DJI Osmo 360, GoPro MAX, or MAX2
  • Possible mounts: rigid backpack, harness, extension arm, pole, or secure vehicle mount
  • Full body must remain visible throughout normal movement

Recording Standards

High-quality submissions must follow the assigned camera position, capture a variety of activities and environments, and keep the relevant action consistently visible. Follow all provided recording and safety instructions for every task.

  • Record clips of at least 60 seconds continuously
  • Capture at a minimum of 720p
  • Keep the activity and surrounding environment visible
  • Upload completed video as instructed
  • Handle recording equipment carefully
  • Follow all recording and safety requirements

Required Skills and Qualifications

This project is suited to people who can operate 360° video equipment and reliably collect real-world activity footage. Experience or subject matter expertise in autonomous-driving perception and real-world activity data is required.

  • 360° video recording
  • Camera mounts and equipment handling
  • Video uploading
  • Autonomous-driving perception and real-world activity data expertise
  • Access to a qualifying camera
  • Conversational English proficiency
  • Availability for less than 20 hours per week

Compensation and Start Timeline

The rate is $20 per hour of approved video, also described as PPT. Payment is based on the duration of video that passes quality review and is accepted for delivery, not simply on time spent recording.

Roles are being filled with immediate availability. Your starting time will depend on the shipping time of equipment to your home.

  • Pay: $20 USD per hour of approved video
  • Payment depends on successful quality review and acceptance
  • Immediate availability sought
  • Start date depends on equipment shipping time
