About AI training and why it matters
AI training (also called data labeling or annotation) is the human work that teaches models how to interpret and generate useful results. Contributors annotate text, review model outputs, and provide structured feedback so AI systems learn from real-world expertise.
This work is remote, flexible, and accessible: many projects need domain knowledge, attention to detail, and clear written reasoning rather than prior AI experience. Contributors play a direct role in shaping how modern AI behaves.
The role — Workflow Annotator, Finance & Data Analysis
OpenTrain AI is recruiting a Workflow Annotator to produce and review finance workflow documentation that trains models to understand FP&A and data-analysis processes. You will work with text-based tasks including generating expert responses and rating or evaluating model outputs.
This is a remote, contract position meant for contributors who can translate real finance workflows, SQL/Snowflake examples, and spreadsheet work into clear, repeatable guidance that improves model behavior.
Data type: text (TEXT_GENERATION and EVALUATION_RATING tasks).
Time expectation: 20+ hours per week (flexible scheduling).
What you'll do day to day
Your core work is creating and improving high-quality written examples and judgments that teach models how finance teams actually operate. Tasks are structured with detailed rubrics to guide consistent evaluation.
Write or improve expert responses that explain analysis, reconciliation, and reporting steps.
Review source materials and model outputs against project guidelines and rubrics.
Provide clear, actionable explanations of your judgments so feedback can be used to improve models.
Maintain consistency and high quality across many repeated review tasks.
Requirements and desired background
Candidates should combine finance domain experience with strong written communication and comfort working independently on remote contractor tasks. Prior AI training experience is not required; domain expertise matters more.
Hands-on FP&A, accounting, financial analysis, or data analytics experience.
Strong SQL skills for reporting, reconciliation, and ad hoc analysis.
Practical experience with Snowflake and spreadsheet tools in real workflows.
Clear documentation skills for step-by-step process capture and explanation.
Fluency in English, excellent attention to detail, and ability to follow rubrics precisely.
Familiarity with Slack and common collaboration tools used in finance teams.
Schedule, pay, and logistics
This is a flexible, self-directed contract role. You choose when you work as long as you meet project deadlines and quality standards.
Pay range: $14–$36 per hour (USD). Expected participation: 20+ hours per week. OpenTrain AI contracts contributors directly and supports profile-building across projects.
Worldwide applicants accepted; English required.
Compensation paid hourly under contract terms.
Who should apply and next steps
Apply if you have real finance analysis or accounting experience, strong SQL and Snowflake familiarity, and enjoy turning procedural knowledge into clear written guidance. Entry-level labeler experience is fine if you meet the domain requirements.
To apply, create or update your OpenTrain profile, highlight relevant FP&A/analyst work and SQL/Snowflake projects, and submit your application through the OpenTrain platform.

Annotate and restructure accounting and finance PDFs—verify OCR, correct tables, and produce clean HTML and JSON key‑value outputs. Remote contractor role, 20+ hrs/week, $7–$9 USD/hour; ideal for candidates with bookkeeping, audit, or finance reporting experience.
Create anonymized financial document + structured JSON ground-truth pairs to help benchmark and evaluate AI models; contractor, part-time, fixed-price $300, remote worldwide. Intermediate applicants with retail wealth-management familiarity are strongly encouraged to apply.
