The Role

OpenTrain is seeking intermediate Visual Creative Experts for a remote, part-time contractor engagement focused on curating and evaluating aesthetic visual content. You will select and critique images based on artistic quality, originality, and visual impact while helping develop datasets for next-generation AI systems.

The project is expected to run for 3 to 6 months, with a commitment of less than 20 hours per week. Compensation is $21 to $70 per hour.

What You'll Do

You will apply refined visual judgment to image collections and explain your decisions through clear, detailed written feedback. The work requires consistency across diverse visual genres and formats, along with collaboration as project standards and guidelines develop.

• Review curated collections of filtered aesthetic images.
• Assess visual quality and creative value.
• Select images with exceptional composition, lighting, color, styling, originality, and technical execution.
• Document the reasoning behind your selections and critiques.
• Collaborate with project trainers and other visual specialists to align on quality standards.
• Maintain consistent evaluation standards across diverse visual genres and formats.
• Stay responsive to changing guidelines and project requirements.
• Help build robust, diverse datasets that reflect refined aesthetic sensibilities.

Required Skills And Qualifications

This opportunity is suited to people with demonstrated expertise in evaluating or creating visual work. A strong portfolio or track record of visual projects should show clear taste, artistic rigor, and the ability to recognize and communicate what makes an image effective.

• Image evaluation experience or strong visual evaluation ability.
• Expertise in visual arts, design, or photography.
• Experience in photography, art direction, graphic or brand design, illustration, or visual curation.
• Strong visual discernment and the ability to articulate judgments about composition, lighting, color, and originality.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to provide constructive, detailed feedback.
• Experience critically evaluating or selecting images or visual content.
• Awareness of visual trends, cultural references, and emerging aesthetics in design or photography.
• Self-motivation and reliability in a remote engagement.
