The Role

OpenTrain is seeking a Vietnamese STEM AI Safety Evaluation Scientist to create expert-level Vietnamese prompts and assess model responses across specialized scientific topics. You will evaluate accuracy, helpfulness, classification, and the appropriate handling of sensitive content.

The work requires strong knowledge of laboratory and computational methods, along with sound judgment when reviewing dual-use scientific information. Prior AI or machine-learning experience is not required.

What You'll Do

You will produce and review technical content in Vietnamese while using structured guidelines to support consistent evaluation. The role combines scientific reasoning, language fluency, and responsible safety judgment.

• Write expert-level prompts in Vietnamese across specialized scientific topics
• Evaluate model responses for scientific accuracy and helpfulness
• Annotate responses for appropriate sensitive-content handling
• Classify prompts and conversations using structured standards
• Apply knowledge of modern laboratory and computational techniques
• Assess scientific safety and potential dual-use information carefully

Required Qualifications

This role requires an ongoing or completed PhD in chemistry, biology, or a closely related scientific field, with sufficient depth to work across relevant chemical, biological, radiological, or nuclear subject areas.

• Ongoing or completed PhD-level expertise in chemistry, biology, or a closely related field
• Native or near-native Vietnamese fluency for scientific prompt writing
• Business-level written English for technical evaluation work
• Deep familiarity with modern laboratory or computational techniques
• Sound judgment regarding scientific safety and responsible handling of dual-use information

Helpful Background

Experience in specialized scientific areas can support success in this work. Technical review experience is also welcome, although previous AI or machine-learning experience is not required.

Schedule, Location, and Pay

This is remote, part-time contractor work for about 7 hours per week. Southeast Asia is preferred, but candidates based elsewhere are welcome. The pay rate is $19-$23 per hour.
