OpenTrain AI is the hiring and contracting organization for every role listed here; we connect contributors, teams, and agencies with long-term annotation work that shapes how real-world AI systems behave.

About AI Training Work

AI training (also called data labeling or annotation) is the human side of building modern AI. People prepare, review, and correct examples that models learn from — everything from marking objects in video to classifying activities.

This work is remote, flexible, and accessible: many projects require no prior experience, and contributors can work part time or scale up with larger monthly hours. High-performing contributors and teams often receive ongoing work.

The Role

We are hiring agencies, large teams, and individual annotators to join a large-scale, long-term project supporting vision-language action (VLA) AI research and product development.

You will annotate video of everyday activities and household tasks, following detailed guidelines to produce consistent, high-quality labels used to train state-of-the-art vision-language models.

  • Annotate videos of everyday activities and household tasks with high accuracy and consistency.
  • Apply classification labels and draw object-detection annotations where required.
  • Follow detailed labeling guidelines and quality checks provided by the project.
  • Deliver work on schedule and maintain steady throughput for long-term engagement.

Project Details

This is a long-term engagement on a large-scale project with potential growth and ongoing work for high-performing contributors.

The contract uses a fixed-price payment arrangement: USD 58,000 (fixed-price). Work is remote and available worldwide; both individuals and managed teams are welcome to apply.

  • Time commitment: 20+ hours/week standard; up to 180 hours per month per annotator.
  • Data type: video (everyday activities, household tasks).
  • Label types: classification and object detection.
  • Annotation software: Encord (experience with Encord or similar platforms is a strong advantage).
  • Employment type: Contractor, Part-time.

Requirements

To succeed in this role you must reliably produce accurate, guideline-driven annotations and meet agreed deadlines.

  • English proficiency at CEFR Level B or higher.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise instructions.
  • Reliable, high-speed internet connection and a stable remote workspace.
  • Ability to maintain consistent quality over long-term work and meet deadlines.
  • Available to commit roughly 20+ hours per week, up to 180 hours/month per annotator.
  • Open to agencies, managed teams, and individual annotators.

Preferred Qualifications

These are not required but will help your application stand out and increase the chance of ongoing work.

  • Previous experience in video annotation, object detection, or activity classification.
  • Experience using Encord or similar video annotation platforms.
  • Prior work on large-scale, long-running annotation projects or managing teams of annotators.

Who Should Apply and Next Steps

If you are an individual annotator seeking steady part-time contract work, or manage an agency or team that can deliver high-volume, high-quality annotations, we want to hear from you.

Create a free OpenTrain account, complete your profile, and apply to the project. Applicants may be asked to complete a small screening task and follow project-specific training before receiving assignments. High performers will be considered for ongoing work.

  • Apply through your OpenTrain profile — include whether you are applying as an individual, a managed team, or an agency.
  • Be prepared to demonstrate English proficiency and past annotation experience if requested.
  • Top performers receive priority for additional assignments and extended engagement.
