The Role
OpenTrain is recruiting a Venture Capital AI Training Associate to help build datasets based on the nuanced workflows of modern venture capital. You will translate authentic investment analysis into high-quality tasks and judgments, then evaluate whether AI-generated content reflects accurate and realistic VC reasoning.
This is a remote contractor opportunity for an individual who can apply genuine venture capital judgment to the creation and review of AI training data. The engagement is part-time, with a time requirement of 20 or more hours per week, and is open worldwide.

What You'll Do
You will design, analyze, and evaluate work that reflects the depth expected in professional venture capital decision-making. Assignments may span pre-seed through growth companies and multiple sectors.
The work requires careful documentation, consistent judgment, and the ability to assess incomplete or ambiguous information without losing analytical precision.
Analyze early-stage and growth startups across financials, product-market fit, market opportunities, competitive positioning, and team effectiveness.
Construct and interpret financial projections, cap tables, and scenario analyses for early-stage companies.
Evaluate whether AI-generated outputs demonstrate accurate pattern matching, market sizing, and realistic VC judgment.
Help calibrate evaluation rubrics, refine task complexity, and identify content gaps across sectors and company stages.
Document methodologies for modern venture capital analysis and decision-making.
Required Experience And Skills
This opportunity is designed for someone with substantial exposure to venture capital or related investment evaluation. Prior AI training experience is not required; the key qualification is the ability to apply sound venture capital judgment to structured AI training tasks.

Three to six or more years of experience in venture capital, growth equity, or startup operations with significant deal evaluation exposure.

Demonstrated ability to conduct market sizing, founder assessment, and competitive landscape analysis with incomplete or ambiguous information.
Experience constructing and interpreting startup financial projections, cap tables, and scenario analyses.
Exceptional written communication, precise analytical documentation, and strong reasoning.
Experience across company stages from pre-seed through growth and across multiple sectors is valuable.
Helpful Background
An MBA, Master’s in Finance, or equivalent advanced degree is welcome. An operator or founder background with substantial exposure to investment evaluation may also be useful.
The strongest candidates will be comfortable combining practical company-building or investment experience with detailed written analysis and consistent evaluation of AI-generated content.
Venture capital, growth equity, or founder-operator experience with substantial deal evaluation exposure.
Investment committee memorandum drafting and partner-level diligence experience.
TAM/SAM/SOM market sizing, founder assessment, and competitive landscape analysis.
