The Role

OpenTrain AI is hiring Tongan bilingual experts to transcribe, evaluate, and linguistically analyze Tongan audio and video. Your work will improve speech and language models by producing high-quality transcripts, timestamping, tone and intent analysis, and detailed notes on idioms and grammar.

This is a contract, part-time role working with audio data and tasks labeled as TRANSCRIPTION and EVALUATION_RATING.

What You'll Do

• Transcribe Tongan audio and video into accurate written text with precise timestamps.
• Analyze emotional tone and speaker intent across varied scenarios.
• Review transcriptions for grammatical structure, clarity, and fluency in Tongan and English.
• Define and contextualize complex or idiomatic Tongan words and expressions for non-native users.
• Provide detailed feedback on language usage, tone, and linguistic nuances.
• Collaborate with project coordinators to meet timelines and quality standards.
• Contribute linguistic insights that help refine AI language models.

Requirements

You must bring native or near-native fluency in both Tongan and English, strong transcription experience, and the ability to analyze emotional context and speaker intent.

• Strong attention to emotional context, tone analysis, and speaker intent.
• Advanced knowledge of Tongan grammar, vocabulary, idioms, and cultural context.
• Self-driven, detail-oriented, and committed to delivering high-quality work.
• Availability: the project lists 20+ hours/week; candidates should be able to commit at least 15 hours weekly.

Compensation, Schedule, and Location

This contract, part-time role pays on an hourly basis. OpenTrain projects are remote and can be done from anywhere worldwide.

• Pay: $45–$95 per hour (hourly, pay-per-hour model) with top rate up to $95/hr.
• Expected time commitment: 20+ hours/week; flexible scheduling around your availability.
• Employment type: Contractor, part-time. Work is fully remote and open worldwide.
