About AI Training and Document Annotation
AI training is the human side of building modern artificial intelligence. People prepare and review examples so AI systems can recognize patterns, interpret information, and produce more useful results.
In document annotation, contributors identify fields, capture their locations, and describe how information relates across a form. Your work will help document AI systems understand tax forms, field dependencies, and structured outputs.
The Role
OpenTrain is seeking a Tax Form Document Annotation Specialist to support AI training work in accounting and finance. You will annotate tax documents by drawing precise bounding boxes, applying structured labels, linking related fields, and validating the resulting data.
This entry-level contractor role requires practical knowledge of tax form structures and careful attention to schemas, metadata, relationships, and validation rules. The schedule is part time at 20 or more hours per week, and the work is available worldwide.
- Role type: Part-time contractor
- Time requirement: 20+ hours per week
- Work location: Worldwide and remote
- Working language: English
- Experience level: Entry level
What You’ll Do
You will create accurate, consistently structured annotations across a range of tax documents. The work includes interpreting form layouts, connecting related values, and reviewing exports to ensure that the labeled data is usable for AI training.
- Annotate W-2, 1040, 1099, VAT returns, self-assessment forms, and corporate tax schedules.

You should understand how tax forms are organized and how their fields depend on one another. Familiarity with IRS guidance or an equivalent tax-authority framework is required, along with hands-on experience using Label Studio or a comparable document annotation platform.
