About AI Training Work

AI training is the human side of building modern artificial intelligence. Experts review model responses, write high-quality examples, compare competing answers, and provide detailed feedback so AI systems become more accurate, reliable, and useful.

This work is remote and can offer flexible part-time scheduling. Your tax and audit knowledge will directly support the development of models that handle technical explanations, compliance reasoning, financial reporting relationships, and audit documentation.

  • Evaluate and rank AI-generated responses
  • Create prompts, model solutions, and expert explanations
  • Identify incorrect reasoning, unsupported conclusions, and noncompliant guidance

The Role

OpenTrain AI is recruiting an expert-level Tax and Audit AI Training Expert for hourly, remote contractor work. You will review AI-generated tax and audit responses, create expert accounting content, and produce gold-standard explanations and model solutions.

The role covers tax scenarios, audit programs, workpaper examples, control assessments, risk analysis, financial reporting links, and related technical explanations. You should be reliable, self-directed, highly detail-oriented, and comfortable working across time zones.

  • Experience level: Expert
  • Workload: 20+ hours per week
  • Employment type: Part-time contractor
  • Data focus: Text evaluation, rating, generation, and RLHF

What You'll Do

You will assess whether AI-generated answers are technically correct, clearly reasoned, complete, and practically useful. Your feedback should identify specific errors and explain the defensible approach an expert would take.

You will also develop high-quality training examples and test outputs for safety, bias, noncompliance risk, and weak connections to financial reporting.

  • Review tax and audit answers for accuracy, reasoning quality, and completeness
  • Write feedback identifying errors in tax treatment, audit methodology, compliance logic, and unsupported conclusions
  • Create detailed prompts and gold-standard outputs for tax and audit topics
  • Compare and rank multiple model responses by correctness, clarity, and practical usefulness
  • Test outputs for unsafe or noncompliant guidance, bias, and weak financial reporting linkage
  • Produce explanations that demonstrate correct methods and audit-ready documentation standards
  • Research tax issues and document conclusions on uncertain positions
  • Prepare or assess defensible workpapers, reconciliations, and audit-ready documentation

Requirements

Applicants should have substantial professional experience in tax, audit, or both, along with the ability to fact-check complex technical content and communicate conclusions clearly in English.

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in accounting, finance, taxation, or a related field
  • At least 5 years of professional tax and/or audit experience in public accounting, advisory, internal audit, or industry
  • Minimum C1 English proficiency
  • Strong command of taxable income adjustments, credits, deductions, nexus or permanent establishment awareness, and withholding, VAT, or GST concepts where relevant
  • Strong command of audit planning, materiality, risk assessment, control testing, substantive procedures, sampling, and audit evidence quality
  • Ability to review or prepare clear, defensible workpapers, reconciliations, and documentation
  • Strong English communication skills and exceptional attention to detail
  • Tax research and documentation experience for uncertain positions
  • CPA, ACCA, EA, CIA, or a local equivalent is a strong plus

Helpful Background

The strongest candidates will be comfortable connecting tax and audit conclusions to financial statement impacts and evaluating whether technical answers are internally consistent and adequately supported.

  • Familiarity with segregation of duties, approvals, access controls, and other internal controls
  • Knowledge of SOX concepts
  • Ability to evaluate debits and credits, timing and cutoff, tax logic, and financial reporting impacts
  • Prior experience with AI data training, audit quality assurance, tax technical writing, or policy interpretation
