The Role
OpenTrain AI is recruiting an expert-level Tax and Audit AI Training Expert for hourly, remote contractor work. You will review AI-generated tax and audit responses, create expert accounting content, and produce gold-standard explanations and model solutions.
The role covers tax scenarios, audit programs, workpaper examples, control assessments, risk analysis, financial reporting links, and related technical explanations. You should be reliable, self-directed, highly detail-oriented, and comfortable working across time zones.

What You'll Do
You will assess whether AI-generated answers are technically correct, clearly reasoned, complete, and practically useful. Your feedback should identify specific errors and explain the defensible approach an expert would take.
You will also develop high-quality training examples and test outputs for safety, bias, noncompliance risk, and weak connections to financial reporting.
Review tax and audit answers for accuracy, reasoning quality, and completeness
Write feedback identifying errors in tax treatment, audit methodology, compliance logic, and unsupported conclusions
Create detailed prompts and gold-standard outputs for tax and audit topics
Compare and rank multiple model responses by correctness, clarity, and practical usefulness
Test outputs for unsafe or noncompliant guidance, bias, and weak financial reporting linkage
Produce explanations that demonstrate correct methods and audit-ready documentation standards
Research tax issues and document conclusions on uncertain positions
Prepare or assess defensible workpapers, reconciliations, and audit-ready documentation
Requirements
Applicants should have substantial professional experience in tax, audit, or both, along with the ability to fact-check complex technical content and communicate conclusions clearly in English.
Bachelor’s degree or higher in accounting, finance, taxation, or a related field
At least 5 years of professional tax and/or audit experience in public accounting, advisory, internal audit, or industry
Minimum C1 English proficiency
Strong command of taxable income adjustments, credits, deductions, nexus or permanent establishment awareness, and withholding, VAT, or GST concepts where relevant
Strong command of audit planning, materiality, risk assessment, control testing, substantive procedures, sampling, and audit evidence quality
Ability to review or prepare clear, defensible workpapers, reconciliations, and documentation
Strong English communication skills and exceptional attention to detail
Tax research and documentation experience for uncertain positions
CPA, ACCA, EA, CIA, or a local equivalent is a strong plus
Helpful Background
The strongest candidates will be comfortable connecting tax and audit conclusions to financial statement impacts and evaluating whether technical answers are internally consistent and adequately supported.
Familiarity with segregation of duties, approvals, access controls, and other internal controls
Knowledge of SOX concepts
Ability to evaluate debits and credits, timing and cutoff, tax logic, and financial reporting impacts
Prior experience with AI data training, audit quality assurance, tax technical writing, or policy interpretation
