About AI Training Work

AI training (also called data labeling or annotation) is the human work that helps modern models learn. Contributors create and review examples—code, text, audio, or images—that shape how AI systems understand and generate outputs.

This work is often fully remote, flexible, and accessible: many projects let you set your own hours and fit the work around life commitments. Specialized tasks that require programming, medical, or legal knowledge typically pay more.

  • Remote, flexible work — fit hours around studies, jobs, or family
  • Entry points with no prior experience, plus higher-paying specialist projects
  • Directly influence how state-of-the-art AI systems behave

The Role

We are seeking skilled Swift/iOS developers to create training data for LLMs focused on Swift programming. You will craft detailed prompts, model responses, and example corrections so AI models learn to write, explain, and debug Swift code for real-world iOS development tasks.

This is a contract, part-time position requiring 20+ hours per week. Compensation is USD $12 per hour. The labeled data type is text and the label category is computer programming/coding; labeling software is listed as Other.

  • Employment type: Contractor, Part-time
  • Time requirement: 20+ hours/week
  • Pay: $12 per hour (USD)
  • Data type: Text — Label types: Computer programming / coding

What You’ll Do

Work with AI researchers to design and produce high-quality Swift coding examples, prompts, answers, and edits that teach LLMs how to solve programming problems, follow best practices, and explain code clearly.

Ensure training examples cover real-world iOS scenarios and edge cases so the model learns practically useful behaviors.

  • Write detailed prompts and model responses in Swift (including SwiftUI where relevant)
  • Create explanations, step-by-step solutions, and code corrections
  • Design examples that reflect commercial-grade iPhone/iPad app development
  • Review and refine dataset items for clarity, correctness, and coverage
  • Collaborate with researchers to align examples with annotation guidelines

Requirements

You must be highly proficient in Swift and have a minimum of 2 years of experience related to Swift development; candidates typically have 2–3+ years of iOS development experience. A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field is required or you may demonstrate equivalent experience.

Strong English communication skills are required. Prior experience providing training data, labeling, or working as an LLM trainer is strongly preferred.

  • Minimum 2 years of Swift development experience; ideally 2–3+ years in iOS development
  • Proficiency with Swift and familiarity with SwiftUI and Objective-C is a plus
  • Proven experience building and publishing commercial iPhone and/or iPad apps
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Engineering/Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • Strong command of English (written and spoken)
  • Preferred: prior LLM training/data-labeling experience

Who Should Apply

Experienced iOS engineers who enjoy teaching concepts through examples and want flexible, remote contract work will thrive in this role. If you like translating real engineering problems into clear prompts, examples, and explanations, this project is a good fit.

Candidates with prior annotation/LLM training platform experience (OpenTrain, Appen, OpenTrain.AI, or similar) should highlight that in their application.

  • You enjoy writing clear coding explanations and crafting edge-case examples
  • You prefer part-time contract work with flexible hours
  • You can consistently produce high-quality, reproducible training examples

How To Apply & Interview Tips

When you apply, include examples of your Swift work or links to published iOS apps and briefly describe your Swift/iOS experience. Be ready to demonstrate code samples and explain your design decisions.

During screening, you will be asked about any prior experience creating training data or labeling on platforms such as OpenTrain, Appen, OpenTrain.AI, or similar—please prepare details if applicable.

  • Submit Swift code samples or links to App Store apps if available
  • Highlight any prior LLM training or data-labeling experience
  • Confirm availability for 20+ hours/week and fluency in English
