About OpenTrain

OpenTrain AI is the hiring and contracting organization for this opportunity. OpenTrain is the #1 platform for finding and building careers in AI training and data labeling, helping contributors discover projects, build a professional profile, and apply in minutes.

Creating an OpenTrain account is free. Through this contract, you will contribute your iOS engineering expertise to the development of more capable and reliable AI systems.

About AI Training Work

AI training is the human side of building artificial intelligence. Engineers and other specialists help models improve by reviewing generated content, writing strong examples, comparing responses, and identifying errors that automated systems may miss.

This is remote, flexible work in a rapidly growing technology field. Your technical judgment will help shape how AI handles real-world software engineering questions and recommendations.

The Role

OpenTrain AI is hiring an iOS Code Review and AI Training Engineer to assess AI-generated iOS code, mobile architectures, and technical explanations. You will create reference implementations and step-by-step reasoning for complex engineering problems while evaluating correctness, clarity, security, performance, reliability, and prompt adherence.

The work spans UIKit and SwiftUI, concurrency, memory management, threading, app lifecycle, networking, persistence, and build and release practices. You will also fact-check technical information, write strong model answers, and compare multiple AI responses to identify the best solution.

  • Contractor and part-time engagement
  • Intermediate experience level
  • Pay: $110 USD per hour
  • Time requirement: 20+ hours per week
  • Working language: English

What You'll Do

You will apply practical production iOS experience and methodical engineering judgment to evaluate model outputs. Reviews should account for real-world reliability, maintainability, security, and adherence to the requested solution.

  • Review AI-generated iOS code and technical explanations for correctness and quality
  • Identify issues in UIKit and SwiftUI implementations, concurrency, memory management, threading, networking, persistence, and release practices
  • Write detailed prompts across iOS topics and produce high-quality reference answers
  • Rate and compare multiple AI responses using clear engineering judgment
  • Validate reliability across real-world iOS use cases
  • Flag unsafe recommendations and fact-check technical information
  • Create reference implementations and step-by-step reasoning for complex engineering problems

Required Qualifications

This role requires hands-on production iOS application experience and strong written English communication. You should be comfortable explaining why an implementation is correct or incorrect and identifying subtle issues in model-generated solutions.

Prior AI training, annotation, or AI content evaluation experience is a plus, but the core requirement is strong iOS engineering expertise and a careful, detail-oriented review style.

  • Strong Swift 5+ knowledge, including value and reference semantics, generics, protocols, error handling, and modern language features
  • Production iOS application experience with Swift and ideally Objective-C
  • Practical experience with UIKit, SwiftUI, app architecture, navigation, and state management
  • Experience with app lifecycle and background execution constraints
  • Deep understanding of GCD, OperationQueue, async/await, race conditions, and thread safety
  • Strong grasp of ARC, retain cycles, memory leaks, networking, testing, Keychain, and privacy-sensitive data handling
  • Ability to write clear technical explanations in English and compare model responses
  • Methodical, detail-oriented engineering review style

Helpful Background

The following experience can help you assess a broader range of iOS answers and production scenarios, though it is described as helpful rather than required.

  • Familiarity with XCTest and UI testing
  • Experience with CI/CD, Fastlane, and App Store release hygiene
  • Experience with offline-first patterns, caching, and persistence
  • Experience debugging production iOS bugs

Who Can Apply

This opportunity is open to candidates located in Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brazil, Cambodia, Germany, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Nepal, Pakistan, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, the Philippines, the United States, Timor-Leste, or Vietnam.

The role requires English communication and a commitment of at least 20 hours per week. Applicants should be prepared to work as independent contractors on a part-time basis.

  • Eligible locations: Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brazil, Cambodia, Germany, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Nepal, Pakistan, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Philippines, United States, Timor-Leste, and Vietnam
  • English proficiency required for technical writing and evaluation
  • Minimum availability: 20+ hours per week
