About AI Training Work
AI training is the human side of building artificial intelligence. Experts create examples, review model outputs, and provide structured feedback so AI systems can produce more accurate and useful results. In this role, your structural engineering knowledge will help an AI model reason more effectively about the built environment.
Work on cutting-edge AI development
Apply specialized professional expertise
Work independently and asynchronously
No prior AI or machine learning background is required
The Role
OpenTrain AI is seeking a Structural Engineering AI Task Creator for a fully remote, flexible contractor position. You will design, create, and evaluate AI training tasks based on real structural engineering challenges, with a focus on structural analysis, seismic design, and finite element modeling.
Contractor, part-time engagement
Entry-level role classification with specialized engineering requirements
20+ hours per week
Open to candidates in India
English-language work
Pay: $80–$110 per hour
What You'll Do
You will create precise technical tasks that test an AI model's ability to understand structural behavior. You will also develop objective evaluation methods and assess generated responses for accuracy, soundness, and compliance with relevant engineering standards.
Write clear problem statements that test structural engineering reasoning
Develop deterministic scoring checkers and reference solutions
Evaluate AI-generated responses for technical accuracy and engineering soundness
Assess adherence to IS 456, IS 800, ACI 318, AISC, and Eurocode standards
Provide structured expert feedback to improve AI performance in structural engineering
Required Qualifications
Candidates should have a strong foundation in civil or structural engineering and the ability to communicate technical problems clearly in written English. The role requires practical experience with structural analysis and OpenSees-based finite element work.
BE or BTech degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a closely related field
Proficiency with OpenSees finite element software
Applied experience in structural analysis and design using OpenSees, ETABS, or SAP2000
Experience with structural analysis, pushover analysis, seismic design, or FEA
Familiarity with Indian and international standards including IS 456, IS 800, ACI 318, AISC 360, or Eurocode
Comfort with response spectrum analysis, nonlinear modeling, or performance-based design
Strong written communication skills in English
Detail-oriented, methodical, and self-motivated working style
Helpful Background
The following experience is useful but not required. These qualifications may help you contribute to more advanced structural engineering AI tasks.
ME, MTech, or PhD in a relevant field
FEA scripting with OpenSees Tcl or Python
Seismic assessment, retrofit design, or performance-based earthquake engineering
Reinforcement learning, AI training workflows, or prompt engineering
Published research or professional project work in structural or earthquake engineering
Chartered Engineer status in India or equivalent professional registration
Mentoring, teaching, or engineering education content creation
