About AI training work
AI training (data labeling / human feedback) is the human work that teaches modern AI systems how to behave. Contributors annotate, evaluate, and create high-quality examples and judgements that models learn from—work that is remote, flexible, and often accessible without prior AI experience.
This project focuses on strategic finance deliverables: you will produce analytical work and written recommendations that are graded against a rubric and used to train and evaluate finance-focused models.
The role
You will complete self-contained strategic finance exercises using mock files and produce deliverables such as business cases, scenario analyses, pricing recommendations, and market-sizing studies. Work is project-based and graded against a rubric.
Commitment: approximately 15 hours per week. Compensation: $85–$100 USD per hour. Employment types: contractor, part-time.
What you'll do
Build business cases and investment appraisals with NPV, IRR, and payback calculations for projects, products, or make‑vs‑buy decisions.
Produce capital allocation determinations and rank investments against hurdle rates with portfolio-level review.
Create scenario and sensitivity analyses across demand, pricing, and cost for corporate planning.
Analyze pricing and discount economics to inform price setting and deal-desk approvals with margin impact.
Produce market sizing and competitive landscape analysis, cohort and unit economics, and cost baseline and savings analyses.
Requirements
Candidates must meet the role's substantive experience and technical requirements below. We will assess deliverables against a rubric; accuracy and clarity in financial analysis are essential.
4+ years in strategic finance, corporate strategy, or corporate planning inside an operating company.
Proven ownership of a capital or pricing decision that proceeded to a leadership forum.
Experience building business cases with NPV and IRR calculations.
Ability to produce capital allocation determinations against hurdle rates.
Skill in scenario and sensitivity analysis for corporate planning.
Proficiency in pricing and margin analysis for deal-desk approvals.
Experience creating market sizing and competitive landscape analyses.
Helpful background
Management consulting or Big 4 strategy background now working in an operator role.
Growth equity experience transitioned in-house.
Deal desk or pricing strategy experience.
Assessment and how the project works
Assessment: you will complete a business case with NPV and IRR from mock project files, submit a pricing and margin recommendation, and provide a capital allocation ranking. Deliverables are graded against a rubric.
Task types include evaluation ratings (graded assessments) and free-text deliverables (analysis, written recommendations). Work is submitted as documents and reviewed for accuracy, clarity, and adherence to the rubric.
Time commitment: ~15 hours/week; project-based tasks with clear deliverables and deadlines.
Data type: document-based exercises; label types include evaluation_rating and text_generation.
Payment: hourly, $85–$100 USD per hour paid through OpenTrain.
