The Role
OpenTrain is seeking a specialized legal AI evaluation attorney to assess synthetic legal matters and AI-generated legal work product. You will apply deep, current experience in one of the covered practice areas: sanctions and export controls, structured finance and securitisation, or life sciences and pharmaceutical regulatory practice.
This is a remote, hourly contractor engagement requiring approximately 24 to 30 hours across the engagement, with an expected commitment of 20 hours per week. The pay rate is $150 to $156 per hour. Project work is confidential under a non-disclosure agreement, and external AI tools must not be used with project materials.

What You'll Do
You will review synthetic legal matters and their underlying documents, then compare multiple blinded AI deliverables against a common comparator output. Your assessments should reflect holistic legal-work-product judgment and the standards of your legal specialism.
Read synthetic legal matters and supporting documents
Review six blinded AI deliverables labelled A through F
Compare each deliverable head to head with a common comparator output
Select the preferred output using holistic legal judgment
Write a short, specific rationale for every preference
Evaluate correctness, completeness, judgment, and practical usefulness
Requirements
You must be a qualified lawyer with deep, current practice experience in at least one covered specialism. The work requires careful analysis, defensible comparison decisions, and concise written explanations grounded in professional legal judgment.
