  • Work remotely with flexible contractor scheduling

The Role

OpenTrain is seeking a specialized legal AI evaluation attorney to assess synthetic legal matters and AI-generated legal work product. You will apply deep, current experience in one of the covered practice areas: sanctions and export controls, structured finance and securitisation, or life sciences and pharmaceutical regulatory practice.

This is a remote, hourly contractor engagement requiring approximately 24 to 30 hours across the engagement, with an expected commitment of 20 hours per week. The pay rate is $150 to $156 per hour. Project work is confidential under a non-disclosure agreement, and external AI tools must not be used with project materials.

  • Pay: $150 to $156 per hour
  • Work arrangement: Remote and worldwide

What You'll Do

You will review synthetic legal matters and their underlying documents, then compare multiple blinded AI deliverables against a common comparator output. Your assessments should reflect holistic legal-work-product judgment and the standards of your legal specialism.

  • Read synthetic legal matters and supporting documents
  • Review six blinded AI deliverables labelled A through F
  • Compare each deliverable head to head with a common comparator output
  • Select the preferred output using holistic legal judgment
  • Write a short, specific rationale for every preference
  • Evaluate correctness, completeness, judgment, and practical usefulness

Requirements

You must be a qualified lawyer with deep, current practice experience in at least one covered specialism. The work requires careful analysis, defensible comparison decisions, and concise written explanations grounded in professional legal judgment.

  • Ability to evaluate legal work product for correctness, completeness, judgment, and usefulness
  • Ability to compare competing AI-generated legal deliverables and make defensible preference decisions
  • Precise written English for concise, specific legal rationales
  • Ability to work independently from written instructions and meet deadlines
  • Willingness to protect confidential project materials under a non-disclosure agreement
  • No use of external AI tools with project materials
