The Role

OpenTrain is seeking a Sociology Assessment and Rubric Expert to create and evaluate educational content used in AI training. You will design measurable assessment prompts, develop aligned rubrics, review instructional materials, and provide feedback that supports academic quality.

The role is particularly suited to educators and researchers who can translate sociological theory and current literature into practical assessment resources. Prior AI training experience is not required; the work draws on demonstrated sociology and postsecondary education expertise.

What You'll Do

You will create assessment resources that can be applied consistently across postsecondary educational contexts. Your work will combine sociological subject knowledge, established assessment practices, and careful written explanation of the decisions behind each resource.

• Design assessment tasks rooted in sociological concepts for postsecondary educators
• Create rubrics aligned with each task using Bloom's taxonomy and other established assessment frameworks
• Review educational materials for rigor, clarity, and authenticity
• Provide detailed and actionable feedback on instructional content
• Synthesize sociological literature and research to keep tasks accurate, current, and academically sound
• Document the rationale and criteria behind assessments and rubrics
• Collaborate asynchronously with domain experts and project stakeholders
• Refine assessment materials in response to peer and project feedback

Required Qualifications

This opportunity requires advanced academic training and demonstrated experience in sociology and postsecondary education. Candidates should be able to move confidently between complex sociological theories, current research, assessment design, and clear educational communication.

• PhD or ABD-level training in Sociology or a closely related discipline
• Postsecondary teaching experience
• Active research or publication record
• Professional experience developing assessment tasks and rubrics
• Strong knowledge of Bloom's taxonomy or related pedagogical and assessment frameworks
• Ability to synthesize complex sociological theories and research into clear, actionable content
• Experience providing constructive feedback and reviewing peer work objectively
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
