Senior Book Editor for AI Training

OpenTrain AI is hiring a Senior Book Editor to review book manuscripts and help set standards for AI-generated editorial work. You will apply advanced editorial judgment across different genres and formats, with a focus on producing clear, polished, publishable writing.

The work includes developmental editing, substantive editing, line editing, copyediting, content restructuring, and quality review. You will also explain your recommendations clearly in written and verbal discussions.

• Review manuscripts for clarity, narrative structure, voice, plot, character development, thematic continuity, and market alignment.
• Find inconsistencies, narrative gaps, and opportunities to strengthen the manuscript.
• Write precise, constructive, and actionable editorial feedback.
• Review AI-generated editorial work for accuracy, style, and alignment with industry standards.
• Help develop editorial guidelines and best practices for AI model development.

What It Pays and Takes

This is a remote, part-time contractor role. The position is open to candidates in the countries listed below, with US-based contributors preferred and qualified professionals in other listed locations also considered.

• Pay: $80-$120 per hour.
• Time: 20+ hours per week.

• Language: Professional fluency in English.
• Experience: Extensive experience editing published books for recognized publishing houses or prominent authors.
• Skills: Strong command of English grammar, literary style, manuscript analysis, line editing, copyediting, content restructuring, and editorial judgment.
• Collaboration: Strong written and verbal communication skills and comfort working remotely in a technology-enabled environment.
• Helpful background: Editorial leadership on best-selling, award-winning, or otherwise recognized books, plus experience balancing narrative quality, authorial voice, and market alignment.
