The Role
OpenTrain is seeking a Senior Artist and Graphic Designer to produce high-quality, character-driven visual assets across diverse artistic styles. You will create illustrations, graphics, and other visual content for AI training projects while documenting the prompts and workflows used to generate structured training data.
This is a worldwide, part-time contractor opportunity requiring 20 or more hours per week. The listed compensation is $7 USD per hour, and English is the required working language.

What You'll Do
You will translate detailed creative briefs into polished visual assets, explore multiple styles, and refine your work using calibration feedback. Consistency and clear documentation are central to producing useful AI training examples.
Produce high-quality illustrations and visual assets based on detailed creative briefs
Develop character-driven and graphic visuals in cartoon, comic, manga, anime, pop art, sticker, and sketching styles
Create multiple asset variations while maintaining consistency in style, composition, line work, and color balance
Document artistic prompts, design workflows, and asset metadata in a clear, structured format
Work with cross-functional teams and incorporate calibration feedback efficiently
Refine visual outputs while meeting tight deadlines
Required Skills and Experience
The role requires hands-on professional experience as a Cartoonist, Illustrator, Visual Artist, or in a similar position. A strong portfolio should demonstrate visual versatility and the ability to adapt, replicate, and maintain consistency across different art styles.
Mastery of Procreate, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe Photoshop
Strong understanding of composition, color theory, lighting, line work, textures, and visual balance
Ability to work consistently across cartoon and comic art, manga and anime, pop art, sticker designs, and sketching
Exceptional portfolio showcasing multi-style digital illustration and asset creation
Ability to document creative workflows and asset metadata in a structured manner
Strong written and verbal communication skills
High attention to detail and efficient time management
Helpful Background
A bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in Graphic Design, Fine Arts, Illustration, Visual Communication, or a related creative field is helpful. A comprehensive portfolio demonstrating a strong track record in multi-style digital illustration and asset creation is also valued.
