The work

You will create expert-level engineering problems and review AI-generated technical work across semiconductor and chip design. Your feedback will help assess whether model outputs are accurate, feasible, and consistent with real engineering practice.

The work can cover digital and analog IC design, RTL, verification, physical design, EDA flows, fabrication, and tape-out. You will explain complex technical issues clearly in structured written feedback.

  • Create semiconductor and chip engineering scenarios based on design, verification, implementation, fabrication, and tape-out workflows.
  • Review AI-generated responses for technical accuracy, feasibility, and alignment with engineering standards.
  • Evaluate synthesis, simulation, timing analysis, physical implementation, design-rule checking, layout, verification, and tape-out outputs.
  • Assess areas such as ASIC, SoC, FPGA development, DFT, formal or functional verification, and semiconductor process work.

What it pays and takes

This is an ongoing, project-based contract opportunity that can be done alongside another role. The work is remote and asynchronous, with a self-directed schedule.

  • Pay: up to $120 per hour.
  • Time: 20+ hours per week.
  • Location: Open to candidates based in the United States.
  • Language: Professional fluency in English.
  • Experience: At least 2 years of hands-on industry experience in chip design, semiconductor engineering, or a related field.
  • Education: An MS or PhD in electrical engineering, electronics engineering, computer engineering, or a related field, or a BS in electrical or computer engineering with strong industry experience.
  • Expertise: Demonstrated depth in at least one area such as digital or analog IC design, VLSI, RTL, verification, physical design, EDA flows, fabrication, synthesis, layout, DRC, tape-out, or FPGA development.
  • Communication: Strong written communication, attention to detail, and the ability to explain complex semiconductor concepts clearly.
  • Helpful tools and skills: Cadence Virtuoso, Innovus, Synopsys Design Compiler, PrimeTime, VCS, Calibre, ModelSim, Questa, Vivado, Quartus, Verilog, SystemVerilog, VHDL, SPICE, UVM, static timing analysis, place and route, physical verification, DRC/LVS, parasitic extraction, PDKs, yield analysis, or process integration.
