The Role
OpenTrain AI is hiring Scala developers to join a long-term AI/LLM training project. You'll write short Scala programs, craft precise training examples, and debug AI-generated Scala code to create high-quality labeled data.
This is a contract, part-time role with flexible scheduling; you will set your own hours while meeting the weekly commitment. A Scala coding assessment is required after you submit your proposal.
Selection includes a Scala coding assessment after application.
What You'll Do
Work directly on creating and refining programming datasets and verifying AI outputs. The tasks are concrete and code-focused, designed to produce high-quality training material for language models.
Write code snippets and short Scala programs from given prompts.
Debug and correct AI-generated Scala code to meet specified standards.
Author precise training examples and annotations for model learning.
Refine and optimize Scala solutions for clarity, correctness, and style.
Follow detailed instructions and quality standards to ensure dataset consistency.
Requirements
You must meet the role's technical and logistical requirements to ensure consistent, high-quality contributions. Candidates are evaluated on experience, communication, and the ability to work remotely.
Minimum 2 years of professional software development experience with strong focus on Scala.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
Proven ability to develop, troubleshoot, and optimize Scala code.
Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and effective English communication.
Stable internet connection and reliable electricity for consistent remote work.
Ability to commit 25–40 hours per week for approximately 6 months (20–40 hrs/week is flexible).
Prior experience in AI data labeling or model-training projects is preferred but not required.
Candidates without the 2-year Scala requirement may receive a lower Proposal Qualification score (<7).
