About AI Training Work

AI training is the human side of building artificial intelligence. People review and label examples such as images, video, audio, and text so that AI systems can learn to recognize information and make better decisions.

This work is remote and often flexible, making it possible to contribute from anywhere with an internet connection. Your annotations can directly influence how cutting-edge AI systems understand real-world environments.

The Role

OpenTrain is seeking a Robotics Video Data Annotator to review robotics-focused video footage and prepare accurate training data. You will assess clips for quality, relevance, and accuracy; identify meaningful actions, objects, and events; and apply project-specific scoring guidance consistently.

The role combines hands-on video annotation with quality assurance, documentation, and feedback that helps improve annotation standards. Prior AI experience is not required.

  • Employment type: Part-time contractor
  • Pay: $7 USD per hour
  • Time requirement: 20+ hours per week
  • Location: Worldwide and fully remote
  • Working language: English
  • Experience level: Entry level

What You'll Do

You will work from detailed assignment guidelines and predefined scoring criteria to produce consistent, reliable annotations. The work requires careful attention to both the content of each clip and the reasoning behind your quality judgments.

  • Annotate and review robotics-related video footage.
  • Assess clips for data quality, relevance, and accuracy.
  • Identify and label actions, objects, and events in video data.
  • Apply annotation guidelines and scoring rubrics consistently.
  • Document annotation decisions and explain ambiguous cases.
  • Perform quality checks to confirm annotations meet project requirements.
  • Provide feedback on the clarity and usefulness of annotation guidelines.
  • Deliver completed annotations and evaluations within established project timeframes.

Requirements

You should be comfortable reviewing video clips, interpreting detailed instructions, and making consistent quality judgments. Strong communication is important because you will need to document findings, explain ambiguities, and collaborate remotely on annotation standards.

  • Ability to identify and label actions, objects, and events in robotics video footage.
  • Ability to apply detailed annotation guidelines and scoring rubrics consistently.
  • Strong attention to detail when reviewing video quality, relevance, and accuracy.
  • Ability to document annotation decisions and communicate ambiguities clearly.
  • Familiarity with annotation quality assurance and robotics-related footage.
  • Proactive problem-solving skills and a self-motivated approach to project-based work.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Helpful Background

Experience with video data annotation across multiple platforms or projects is helpful. Previous work with robotics footage or robotics-related annotation is preferred, as is familiarity with AI review processes or quality assurance in data annotation projects.

Relevant robotics knowledge can support careful interpretation of real-world video, but specialist experience is not required for this entry-level opportunity.
