The Role
OpenTrain AI is seeking a Robotics and Mechatronics AI Evaluation Expert to apply hands-on engineering judgment to technical tasks completed with advanced AI coding agents. This is practical evaluation work focused on robotics, mechatronics, and STEM problem-solving rather than simple conversational responses.
You will design and document technical solutions, test how AI agents handle complex engineering work, and explain the strengths and limitations of generated code and workflows. The role is listed at an entry level, and prior AI experience is not required when you bring strong relevant domain expertise.

What You’ll Do
You will complete robotics and mechatronics tasks with Codex, Claude Science, Claude Code, and Claude Cowork. Your work will combine technical implementation, evaluation, documentation, and clear communication of engineering judgments.
You will collaborate remotely with a project lead to share practical insights from robotics and mechatronics work and assess how AI agents can accelerate technical workflows.
Analyze and deliver robotics or mechatronics tasks using advanced AI coding agents
Design, implement, and document solutions for challenging technical scenarios
Navigate extensive or intricate codebases
Debug advanced issues and support end-to-end feature development
Evaluate AI-generated code sequences for performance and usability
Provide detailed written and verbal feedback
Assess architectural changes, technical acceleration, and workflow automation in STEM engineering
Share practical engineering insights with a remote project lead
Required Experience and Skills
The strongest candidates have a current or recent background in robotics, mechatronics, or another STEM field, supported by hands-on technical project experience. You should be comfortable applying engineering judgment to complex, multi-step tasks and explaining your reasoning clearly.
Prior AI experience is not required. However, you should be able to use AI coding agents for substantial technical work involving code generation, debugging, system design, or workflow optimization.
