In this contractor opportunity, OpenTrain is hiring a Product Design and Frontend AI Training Specialist to provide expert written analysis for next-generation AI systems.

  • Worldwide opportunity
  • Contractor and part-time engagement
  • Applications and project access through OpenTrain

About AI Training Work

AI training is the human side of building modern artificial intelligence. Specialists prepare examples, evaluate model outputs, and explain what makes an answer, design decision, or technical approach effective.

Your product, design, UX, accessibility, and frontend knowledge will help clarify reasoning that AI systems can learn from. This work offers a direct way to contribute to cutting-edge technology while using skills developed in your professional field.

  • Work focuses on written analysis, evaluation, and text generation
  • Explain decisions rather than execute production tasks
  • Use practical expertise to improve how AI systems reason about design and technology

The Role

You will work across product design, UX research, UI and visual design, design systems, accessibility, and frontend engineering. Your analysis will address trade-offs, constraints, user impact, strategic implications, and the reasoning behind effective design and technical approaches.

This role requires precise written English, strong synthesis, and the ability to make complex design and engineering information accessible to readers outside your discipline.

  • Pay: $90-$140 per hour
  • Engagement: Contractor and part-time
  • Time requirement: 20+ hours per week
  • Language: English
  • Location: Worldwide

What You'll Do

You will produce and review analytical materials that help AI systems learn from expert reasoning. Work will involve evaluating project artifacts, documenting conclusions, and explaining why particular approaches work or where they may fall short.

  • Analyze product and design challenges and articulate decision-making rationales in clear, structured English.
  • Draft and refine design documents, case studies, usability reports, research summaries, RFCs, ADRs, and related analytical materials.
  • Synthesize complex design and technical information into accessible content for varied audiences.
  • Evaluate design systems and Figma workflows, accessibility considerations, and frontend architecture trade-offs.
  • Produce detailed reports on user research findings, including insights and actionable recommendations.
  • Critically assess design and engineering approaches by documenting advantages, limitations, and strategic implications.
  • Provide expert commentary and feedback during structured reviews of project artifacts.

Requirements

Applicants should bring professional experience in product design, UX research, UI or visual design, or frontend engineering. No prior AI experience is required; practical domain expertise and thoughtful, well-reasoned written work are central to the opportunity.

  • At least three years of professional experience in product design, UX research, UI or visual design, or frontend engineering.
  • Experience with JavaScript or TypeScript and React or comparable frameworks when contributing from a frontend background.
  • A strong portfolio of written deliverables such as design documentation, usability reports, research reports, design-system documentation, RFCs, or ADRs.
  • Proficiency with Figma, contemporary design systems, and accessibility best practices.
  • Strong analytical writing, synthesis, precision, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to explain and justify design or technical trade-offs for stakeholders and readers outside your discipline.
  • Product design, UX research, UI or visual design expertise.
  • Frontend engineering knowledge, including JavaScript, TypeScript, React, or comparable frameworks.
  • Ability to explain design and technical trade-offs, constraints, and user impact in precise written English.

Helpful Background

Experience with user research, usability testing, component libraries, frontend architecture, or strategic design documentation is valuable. Background with leading universities or highly regarded organizations is especially valued.

  • User research and usability testing
  • Component libraries and design systems
  • Frontend architecture
  • Strategic design documentation
  • Experience producing RFCs, ADRs, research summaries, or usability reports

Pay And Engagement

  • $90-$140 hourly pay range
