About AI Training Work

AI training is the human side of building modern artificial intelligence. Experts create realistic examples, review model responses, and explain what accurate, useful work should look like so AI systems can improve.

In this project, your private equity judgment will help train and evaluate AI systems used in transaction, investment, and portfolio management workflows. Prior AI training experience is not required because practical private equity expertise is the foundation of the work.

  • Contribute to cutting-edge AI development
  • Apply professional finance judgment to realistic analytical tasks
  • Work remotely with a flexible, part-time contractor structure

The Role

OpenTrain is recruiting a Private Equity AI Training Associate to improve AI systems used in private equity workflows. You will create finance tasks, develop analytical models, prepare deal documentation, and assess whether AI-generated work reflects sound private equity methodology.

The listing is marked entry level, but the role requires demonstrated private equity experience or combined investment banking and private equity experience. Successful contributors must be able to produce consistent, professional-quality work within structured project parameters.

  • Subject matter: Private Equity Workflow Evaluation
  • Data formats: documents and text
  • Core work types: text generation and evaluation or rating

What You'll Do

You will design and author tasks representing CIM screening, LBO modeling, portfolio company monitoring, due diligence, and related private equity workflows. Your work will help create realistic training data across sectors and transaction types.

You will also review AI-generated outputs for financial accuracy, strategic judgment, and alignment with established private equity methodologies. Feedback should be clear enough to improve evaluation rubrics, task difficulty, and future AI training datasets.

  • Build and stress-test LBO models using realistic capital structures and operating assumptions
  • Analyze returns using IRR and MOIC measures
  • Prepare investment committee memos covering thesis, risks, value creation, and exit scenarios
  • Conduct due diligence assessments and identify transaction risks
  • Propose risk mitigation strategies consistent with industry practice
  • Evaluate AI-generated financial and strategic analysis
  • Refine evaluation rubrics and task difficulty across sectors and deal types
  • Document feedback that supports continued improvement of AI training datasets

Requirements

This role requires practical transaction and investment experience, strong analytical reasoning under ambiguity, and exceptional written communication. You should be comfortable turning complex deal work into clear, professional-grade documentation and structured evaluation criteria.

  • 2 to 6+ years of private equity experience, or investment banking experience combined with private equity work
  • Demonstrated ability to build LBO models
  • Experience preparing investment committee memos reviewed by principals or partners
  • Direct experience with due diligence and risk assessment in live private equity transactions
  • Strong analytical judgment in ambiguous situations
  • Exceptional written communication
  • Ability to produce clear, professional-grade documentation
  • Ability to deliver consistent, high-quality contributions within structured project parameters

Helpful Background

An MBA or Master's degree in Finance is valued. Experience across mid-market, growth, or large-cap funds can support work spanning varied sectors and transaction types.

  • Private equity transaction experience
  • Combined investment banking and private equity experience
  • Mid-market, growth, or large-cap fund experience
  • MBA or Master's in Finance
