You will help evaluate whether AI-generated power engineering content is accurate, practical, safe, and consistent with engineering standards. The work involves creating expert scenarios, reviewing AI responses, and explaining what should be improved.
Projects may draw on transmission, distribution, microgrids, high-voltage equipment, protection and control, grid stability, renewable integration, power quality, or utility operations.
- Create power engineering problems and scenarios based on design, analysis, testing, commissioning, operations, and field work.
- Write prompts that reflect real power engineering practice and evaluate the resulting AI responses.
- Review calculations, assumptions, methods, and recommendations involving power flow, short-circuit analysis, protection, grid stability, and equipment selection.
- Judge technical accuracy, practical feasibility, safety, and alignment with industry standards.
- Provide clear, structured written feedback to help improve AI model performance.
What it pays and takes

- Graduate degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, or a closely related field, or a BS in Electrical Engineering with strong industry experience.
- Expertise in at least one power systems area, such as transmission, distribution, microgrids, high-voltage equipment, protection and control, stability analysis, renewable integration, power quality, or utility operations.
- Strong written communication, attention to detail, and the ability to explain complex power engineering concepts clearly.
- Ability to work independently in a remote, asynchronous setting.
- Helpful background includes PE licensure or comparable certification and experience with IEEE, IEC, NERC, NFPA, or utility standards.
- Helpful tools experience includes ETAP, PSS®E, PSCAD, PowerWorld, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, SKM PowerTools, CYME, MATLAB/Simulink, or Python.
- Experience with protective-relay platforms or with a utility, grid operator, engineering consultancy, EPC firm, equipment manufacturer, or renewable-energy developer is also useful.
How it works
OpenTrain is where people find AI training and data-labeling work and start their application. Apply on OpenTrain with your resume, then complete the application on the hiring site.
About AI training work
AI training is the human work behind systems that generate and interpret content. Experienced engineers help by testing technical answers, spotting unsafe or incorrect reasoning, and showing AI models what a strong response looks like.
