About OpenTrain OpenTrain is the centralized, open platform where AI training and data-labeling freelancers find work, consolidate opportunities across platforms, and build a unified AI training portfolio they control. We make specialized AI training work easier to track, apply for, and grow into a durable freelance career.
About this role OpenTrain is recruiting for a Portuguese AI Safety Evaluator to help improve the safety of advanced AI models. You will use Portuguese language fluency and cultural judgment to evaluate how models handle sensitive topics, create expert prompts, classify conversations, and identify adversarial or escalating language. This role is suited to a careful bilingual contributor who can make consistent, well reasoned decisions about sensitive and dual use information.
What you will do You will write expert level prompts in Portuguese across sensitive subject areas. You will apply structured guidelines to classify prompts and conversations, flag adversarial phrasing and escalation patterns, document the reasoning behind your judgments, and provide written feedback that helps evaluate and strengthen model behavior.
Required skills You should have native or near native fluency in Portuguese, business level written English, strong written reasoning, and close attention to detail. Sound judgment when handling sensitive and dual use information is required. A bachelor's degree, completed or currently in progress, is also required. The work is remote, with a default commitment of about 7 hours per week, and pays $40‑$44 per hour. Training is provided on the workflow.
Helpful background Experience reviewing, grading, or red teaming written or technical content is helpful, as is a background in trust and safety, content moderation, policy evaluation, or adversarial testing. Applicants based in Portugal or the wider Western Europe region may be a strong match, while remote applicants elsewhere are also welcome. Prior AI or machine learning experience is not required.
Why work with OpenTrain OpenTrain gives freelancers one place to manage AI training opportunities instead of rebuilding proof of work on every platform. A stronger OpenTrain profile helps you show credible experience, discover roles that match your skills, and turn AI training and data-labeling work into a long-term portfolio.
