The Role

OpenTrain is recruiting a Physics Problem-Solving AI Training Expert to provide rigorous scientific reasoning for advanced AI systems. You will work with difficult physics problems from your area of specialization, producing technically precise derivations and analyses that support model learning.

The role emphasizes research-quality documentation, mathematical clarity, reproducibility, and careful judgment around assumptions, approximations, special cases, boundary conditions, and ambiguous problem statements.

What You'll Do

You will solve advanced physics problems and present your work so that both technical reviewers and AI training workflows can assess the reasoning. When relevant, you will use computational tools to verify symbolic or numerical results and document the process transparently.

  • Solve advanced physics problems and deliver well-documented solutions
  • Present assumptions, approximations, intermediate reasoning, and final results clearly
  • Use LaTeX mathematical notation for technical explanations
  • Use SymPy, Python, and Jupyter for symbolic or numerical verification when relevant
  • Check dimensional consistency, special cases, and boundary conditions
  • Flag ambiguous statements and propose well-reasoned interpretations or clarifications
  • Incorporate reviewer feedback while preserving technical accuracy and reproducibility

Requirements and Expertise

The ideal candidate has advanced academic or research experience in physics and can communicate complex technical reasoning with precision. A PhD, advanced-stage PhD candidacy, or postdoctoral physics research experience is preferred.

Active expertise may come from a range of physics subfields, provided you can solve and explain advanced problems in your area.
