About AI Training and Expert Evaluation

AI training is the human side of building artificial intelligence. Experts review information, create evaluation criteria, and judge model outputs so AI systems can produce more accurate and useful results. In this project, your drug-development and epidemiology expertise will support evaluation of patient-population analyses.

  • Contribute to cutting-edge AI evaluation work
  • Use professional expertise to assess the quality of model-facing rubrics and analyses
  • Work remotely with a short, clearly defined pilot commitment

The Role

OpenTrain is seeking a US-based Patient Population Sizing Epidemiologist for a short-term pilot. You will help evaluate commercial drugs and drug-development programs by creating and critiquing rubrics, sizing patient populations with real-world data, and judging whether population estimates are sound.

The pilot is expected to require 10-20 hours over 1-2 weeks. Strong contributors may have the opportunity to participate in recurring engagements as the work scales.

  • Pay: $150-$175 per hour
  • Time requirement: Less than 20 hours per week
  • Engagement type: Part-time contractor
  • Location: United States
  • Language: English

What You'll Do

You will apply epidemiology and real-world data expertise across the pilot's set of drugs and indications. The work centers on building reliable patient funnels and evaluating the assumptions and sourcing behind population estimates.

  • Create and critique evaluation rubrics for commercial drugs and drug-development programs
  • Size patient populations for each drug or indication
  • Analyze prevalence, incidence, diagnosed, treated, and addressable patient stages
  • Judge whether patient-population estimates are sound and well sourced
  • Identify over-counting and under-counting in population estimates
  • Apply these methods across the pilot's drugs and indications

Requirements

This role requires substantial epidemiology experience and familiarity with pharmaceutical and biotech development. You should be able to turn real-world data into patient funnels and evaluate the quality of drug-development analyses.

  • Be a US-based epidemiologist with 5 or more years of experience
  • Hold a graduate degree in epidemiology, biostatistics, or public health
  • Have experience sizing patient populations for commercial drugs
  • Be experienced with claims, EHR, or registry data
  • Create and critique evaluation rubrics for drug-development programs
  • Understand biotech and pharmaceutical development pipelines

Helpful Background

Experience in drug development or pharmaceutical evaluation is helpful. Prior AI training or model evaluation experience is also valued, although the core requirement is strong expertise in epidemiology, patient population sizing, and real-world data.

  • Drug-development experience
  • Pharmaceutical evaluation experience
  • Previous AI training work
  • Previous model evaluation work

How the Pilot Works

This is a short-term contractor pilot requiring approximately 10-20 hours over 1-2 weeks. Apply through OpenTrain to be considered for the project and future recurring engagements as the work expands.

  • Complete the pilot remotely within the stated time commitment
