About OpenTrain

OpenTrain is the centralized, open platform where AI training and data-labeling freelancers build durable careers teaching AI. We help you collect proof-of-work, discover projects that match your skills, and grow your portfolio in the fast-growing AI training industry.

For this role, OpenTrain AI is the hiring and contracting organization — you’ll be brought on as a contractor working directly with our team to improve AI systems used in healthcare revenue cycle operations.

  • Work remotely and build a verified AI-training portfolio on a single platform.
  • Turn subject-matter expertise into paid, flexible contract work in AI training.

About AI Training Work

AI training (data labeling / annotation / human feedback) is the human layer that teaches models how to behave. Contributors review model outputs, rate responses, and provide structured corrections that become the examples AI learns from.

This work is often remote and flexible, accessible to professionals with domain expertise, and lets you directly shape how production AI systems perform in real-world workflows.

  • Many projects require no prior AI experience — your operational skills are the value.
  • Specialized healthcare projects pay more when you bring direct clinical or revenue-cycle knowledge.

The Role

As a Patient Access AI Reviewer you will evaluate AI-generated outputs related to patient registration, pre-registration, scheduling, intake coordination, insurance verification, and point-of-service collections. Your structured feedback will be used to improve training datasets and help the models behave correctly in live healthcare workflows.

This is an expert-level, contractor role focused on operational accuracy, compliance, and denial prevention at the front end of the revenue cycle.

  • Data type: text — label types include evaluation/rating and RLHF-style feedback.
  • Employment: contractor, part-time; location: United States only; language: English.

Key Responsibilities

You will apply your patient access leadership to spot operational issues, document them clearly, and provide actionable guidance that both improves front-end workflows and strengthens AI training data.

  • Review AI outputs tied to registration, pre-registration, scheduling, intake, and insurance verification and flag errors with actionable feedback.
  • Identify front-end deficiencies that can cause claim denials and recommend corrections to support clean claim submission.
  • Monitor registration quality metrics and suggest workflow improvements to increase accuracy.
  • Collaborate with billing, clinical, and IT stakeholders to align model feedback with operational requirements.
  • Train staff or create guidance on registration best practices, compliance, and system usage.
  • Document observations and examples that become labeled training data for AI improvement.

Required Qualifications

This role requires deep, practical experience in patient access and front-end revenue cycle. Provide clear, structured written feedback and work independently while coordinating with multiple stakeholders.

  • 5+ years in patient access, patient registration, or front-end revenue cycle management.
  • At least 2 years in a manager or director-level role overseeing patient access or registration teams.
  • Strong knowledge of HIPAA, CMS guidelines, and payer-specific requirements.
  • Hands-on experience with Epic, Cerner, Meditech, or similar registration/EHR systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication and high attention to detail.
  • Ability to provide structured feedback on AI-generated outputs and document errors clearly.

Preferred Qualifications

These credentials and experiences are not required but will help you be effective and move faster in the role.

  • NAHAM CHAM or CHAA credential.
  • Experience with denial prevention at registration and working in a health system, hospital, or large physician group.
  • Familiarity with AI tools such as ChatGPT or Claude and prior experience contributing to AI training.
  • Experience developing SOPs, onboarding materials, or training programs for patient access teams.
  • Prior work evaluating workflow quality or operational accuracy in revenue cycle settings.

Logistics, Pay, and How to Apply

This is a US-based contractor role requiring 20+ hours per week. Pay is hourly at $80 USD per hour. Work is primarily text-based review and evaluation; label types include evaluation/rating and RLHF annotations.

To apply, create or update your OpenTrain profile, add relevant patient access experience and credentials, and submit your application through the OpenTrain platform. Our team will review submissions and reach out with next steps for onboarding, training, and sample tasks.

  • Schedule: 20+ hours/week (part-time, contractor).
  • Rate: $80 USD per hour (PAY_PER_HOUR).
  • Location: United States only; required language: English (en).
  • Work product: text annotations and structured evaluation feedback.
  • Application steps: build/verify OpenTrain profile, submit experience details, complete onboarding sample tasks if invited.
