The role

You will listen to short music recordings and produce precise melodic and lyrical transcriptions. The work is remote, part-time (under 20 hours/week), contractor-based, and begins with a paid pilot assignment that can expand for strong performers.

Work involves both musical notation (pitch, rhythm, key, tempo, time signature) and careful rendering of sung Pashto lyrics, including accented or less-clear delivery.

What you'll do

• Transcribe melodies by ear with accurate pitch and rhythmic detail.
• Identify key, tempo, and time signature for musical excerpts.
• Transcribe sung Pashto lyrics faithfully, handling accented or unclear delivery.
• Deliver consistent, high-quality work on short pilot assignments and ongoing tasks.
• Follow project guidelines for formatting and quality checks as provided by OpenTrain AI.

Requirements

• Formal musical training or professional experience in music (performer, teacher, composer, transcriber, or engineer).
• Demonstrable strong ear for melody and rhythmic accuracy.
• Ability to recognize key, tempo, and time signature reliably.
• Strong fluency in Pashto (ps) sufficient to interpret and transcribe sung lyrics.

Helpful background and fit

This role is labeled Intermediate: you should be comfortable working independently on audio transcription and sustaining quality in part-time remote work.

Experience with music transcription, audio analysis tasks, or prior annotation work is a plus but not required if you meet the musical and language requirements.

• Comfort with careful, detail-oriented short pilot tasks.
• Previous transcription or music notation work is helpful for faster ramp-up.

Pay, hours, and contractor details

Compensation is hourly: USD $50–$70 per hour, paid to contractors. Typical engagement is part-time, under 20 hours per week, starting with a paid pilot that may lead to more work for high performers.

This is a contractor role; OpenTrain AI handles hiring and payment. The position is fully remote and open worldwide to qualified Pashto-fluent applicants.
