The Role

OpenTrain is seeking a Nuclear Physics AI Training Expert to support AI training work focused on nuclear physics evaluation. You will review AI-generated nuclear physics responses and reference answers, then use structured human expertise to assess and improve the material.

Prior AI training experience is not required unless stated elsewhere on this job page. Strong real-world knowledge of nuclear physics is the most important qualification.

• Contractor, part-time position
• 20+ hours per week
• Pay: $60-$90 USD per hour

What You'll Do

You will create and assess technical content across core nuclear physics topics. Your feedback should be precise, scientifically grounded, and clear enough to demonstrate reliable nuclear physics reasoning.

You will also identify unsafe or misleading content, especially where radiation-related explanations could create confusion or overstate certainty.

• Create prompts and high-quality reference answers
• Cover radioactive decay, nuclear structure, fission, fusion, radiation interactions, detectors, shielding, nuclear energy, and safety-aware scientific explanation
• Evaluate and rank AI outputs for scientific accuracy and physical reasoning
• Check unit consistency, calculation quality, clarity, relevance, and safety awareness
• Detect hallucinated facts, incorrect formulas, flawed calculations, unsupported claims, and overconfident interpretations
• Write precise corrections, rewrites, and model answers

Requirements

You should have degree-level or equivalent professional expertise in nuclear physics, nuclear engineering, radiation science, applied physics, engineering physics, or a related field. A bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience is appropriate.

At least three years of relevant experience is preferred. Relevant backgrounds may include nuclear physics, physics research, radiation science, nuclear engineering, teaching, tutoring, technical writing, academic review, or related scientific work.

• Strong knowledge of atomic nuclei, radioactive decay, half-life, binding energy, nuclear reactions, radiation types, fission, fusion, detectors, shielding, and radiation safety
• Ability to check formulas, units, decay chains, reaction notation, calculations, and physical assumptions
• C1 or higher English proficiency for detailed written scientific feedback
• Strong attention to detail and consistent quality standards
• Ability to work independently and follow detailed evaluation rubrics
