About OpenTrain

OpenTrain is the #1 platform for building careers in AI training and data labeling. We help people discover projects, build a unified portfolio, and grow a durable freelance career teaching AI — all from anywhere with an internet connection.

OpenTrain AI is the hiring and contracting organization for this role. We offer flexible, remote opportunities that let experienced professionals apply domain knowledge to improve how AI systems work.

About AI training and this work

AI training (also called data labeling or human feedback) is the human side of building modern AI: people prepare, review, and judge examples that models learn from. This job focuses on evaluating AI-generated work in the nonprofit and philanthropy space so models produce accurate, useful outputs for real-world programs.

These roles are often flexible and remote, and they give contributors direct influence over model behavior by applying real domain judgment to outputs.

The role

You will evaluate AI-generated documents, spreadsheets, and slide decks produced for nonprofit, philanthropy, and community programs. Using domain-specific rubrics, you will judge factual correctness, analytical rigor, domain quality, visual/aesthetic presentation, and overall usefulness.

Assessments must be written clearly and structured so they can be used to train and improve AI systems. This is a contractor, part-time role with a substantial hourly rate reflecting the seniority of the domain skill.

What you'll do

  • Evaluate AI-generated documents, spreadsheets, and slide decks against provided quality rubrics.
  • Identify factual, methodological, aesthetic, and presentation errors and gaps.
  • Deliver concise, structured written feedback for each output, including ratings and examples where relevant.
  • Apply subject-matter judgment from nonprofit, philanthropy, and community programs to assess appropriateness and feasibility.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of relevant professional experience in nonprofit, philanthropy, or community programs.
  • Native or professional fluency in English (written and reading comprehension).
  • Strong Microsoft Office and Google Workspace skills — especially Google Slides or PowerPoint.
  • Careful attention to detail and the ability to assess both written and visual work products.
  • Ability to produce clear, structured written feedback that aligns with rubrics and evaluation ratings.

Helpful background and who should apply

Advanced degree from a reputable institution is a helpful plus but not required. The ideal candidate brings program evaluation, grantmaking, program design, monitoring & evaluation, or related nonprofit practice experience.

This role is a fit for experienced nonprofit professionals, program officers, evaluators, or consultants who want flexible, remote work applying their domain expertise to improve AI outputs.

Compensation, schedule, and logistics

Pay: $80–$120 USD per hour (hourly; PAY_PER_HOUR).

Time commitment: 20+ hours per week. This is a contractor, part-time engagement and is open to contributors worldwide who meet the language and domain requirements.

Work focuses on DOCUMENT data types and produces evaluation ratings as the primary label type.

How it works

OpenTrain AI will assign tasks, provide domain-specific rubrics, and receive your structured feedback and evaluation ratings. You will review AI-generated outputs and submit ratings and written comments according to the project guidelines.

This is a contractor role. If you qualify, you will apply through OpenTrain, complete any required onboarding or qualification tests, and begin receiving assignments that fit your availability.
