About OpenTrain

OpenTrain is the #1 platform for finding and building careers in AI training and data labeling. It helps professionals discover specialized projects, build a credible profile, and apply in minutes. Creating an OpenTrain account is free.

As an OpenTrain AI contractor, you will use your finance expertise to help improve how advanced AI systems handle complex, document-heavy professional work.

About AI Training and Evaluation

AI training is the human side of building artificial intelligence. Specialists create examples, review model-generated responses, and judge whether outputs meet real professional standards. This work helps AI systems become more accurate, useful, and reliable.

This project focuses on text generation and evaluation rating. Your judgment will help assess whether AI-generated finance work reflects sound operational and technical practice.

  • Remote work in a fast-growing technology field
  • Flexible contractor opportunity designed for 20+ hours per week
  • Directly apply professional finance judgment to cutting-edge AI development

The Role

OpenTrain is seeking a non-investment finance expert to produce and evaluate professional-grade finance work products used in AI training and evaluation. You will work through realistic scenarios involving messy source files, deliberate distractors, and ambiguous guidance.

The work centers on operational and technical finance rather than investing or portfolio management. Depending on the task, you may create a deliverable or assess an AI-generated attempt against a professional standard.

  • Payment: $70 per hour
  • Schedule: 20+ hours per week
  • Work arrangement: Remote contractor, part time
  • Primary language: English
  • Experience level listed for the project: Entry level

What You’ll Do

You will reason from term sheets, purchase or partnership agreements, trial balances, memos, emails, and other source documents. The work requires separating material information from deliberate distractors, explaining assumptions and variances, and presenting recommendations in clear narratives suitable for CFOs and partners.

  • Build and review P&L and mark-to-market reconciliations covering trader and accounting views, month-end marks, commissions, and adjustments.
  • Complete vendor and accounts-payable payment reconciliations under cash constraints using purchase-order, purchasing-card, and aging controls.
  • Develop integrated three-statement and pro forma models, including ASC 805 deferred-revenue haircuts, purchase-price-allocation amortization, and synergy phasing.
  • Assess covenants and credit considerations.
  • Analyze partnership or professional-services allocations, including profit-pool waterfalls and capital accounts.
  • Evaluate AI-generated finance work against professional standards.
  • Write clear explanations of assumptions, variances, and recommendations.

Requirements and Preferred Background

You must have at least three years of hands-on experience in a non-investment finance function. Relevant backgrounds include product or financial control, corporate FP&A, technical accounting, treasury, financial operations, accounts payable and procure-to-pay, commercial-banking credit, and professional-services or partnership finance.

Strong knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS is required. Familiarity with ASC 805 and ASC 606 is valued. You should also be comfortable applying sound professional judgment when source information is incomplete or ambiguous.

A CPA, CA, ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent finance qualification is strongly preferred. This work is intended for practitioners who can apply operational and technical finance judgment to complex source documents rather than rely on investing or portfolio-management experience.

  • At least three years of hands-on non-investment finance experience
  • Strong US GAAP and IFRS knowledge
  • Familiarity with ASC 805 and ASC 606 valued
  • Advanced Excel skills for linked three-statement models, reconciliations, and pro forma analysis
  • Ability to identify material information among distractors
  • Ability to explain assumptions, variances, and recommendations in CFO- or partner-ready narratives
  • CPA, CA, ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent qualification strongly preferred

Who Should Apply

Apply if you have practical experience producing, reviewing, or explaining operational finance work and can maintain professional standards when documents contain gaps, conflicting signals, or irrelevant details. This is a strong fit for finance practitioners who want to contribute specialized expertise to AI development without focusing on investment analysis or portfolio management.

  • Financial controllers and FP&A professionals
  • Technical accountants and treasury specialists
  • Financial operations and accounts-payable professionals
  • Commercial-banking credit professionals
  • Professional-services and partnership finance specialists
