Role overview

OpenTrain AI is hiring an Ngspice Electronic Engineering AI Trainer for a remote, contract, part-time role. You will develop and optimize Ngspice circuit simulations that feed into AI training workflows and hardware validation efforts.

This is an entry-level role (technical hands-on expectation) requiring 20+ hours/week. Employment types: contractor, part-time. Pay range: $50–$120 per hour (hourlyRate up to $120/hr). Work language: English. Data type: DOCUMENT; label types: FINE_TUNING and DATA_COLLECTION.

What you'll do day-to-day

You will own simulation tasks from design through validation, focusing on reproducible models and clear technical documentation so simulations can be integrated with AI training workflows.

• Build, analyze, and refine Ngspice circuit simulations for AI training and validation.
• Translate hardware requirements into reproducible simulation models and clear documentation.
• Troubleshoot circuit designs and simulation scripts to resolve modeling issues.
• Support design reviews, validation runs, and optimization across the project lifecycle.
• Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to interdisciplinary teams.

Requirements

Candidates must meet the hands-on technical requirements below. OpenTrain will expect demonstrable experience with Ngspice and solid circuit-design fundamentals.

• Proven hands-on expertise in Ngspice and electronic circuit simulation.
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Electronic Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Strong understanding of analog and digital circuit design principles.
• Experience developing, testing, and optimizing simulation models for complex electronic systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and proficiency in technical documentation and reporting.
• Ability to troubleshoot simulation scripts and circuit issues and produce reproducible workflows.

Helpful background (nice-to-have)

The following skills are not required but will help you move faster and add extra value to the project.

• Experience integrating Ngspice models into AI or machine-learning pipelines.
• Background in hardware validation for AI applications or large-scale simulation projects.
• Familiarity with additional simulation tools or scripting languages used to automate or extend Ngspice.
