About OpenTrain

OpenTrain is the #1 platform for finding and building careers in AI training and data labeling. We help people discover projects, build a unified portfolio, and grow a durable freelance career teaching AI.

As the hiring and contracting organization for this role, OpenTrain connects expert contributors with projects that need real-world domain knowledge to improve model behavior and accuracy.

Why AI training matters

AI training is the human side of building intelligent systems: experts annotate, evaluate, and craft examples so models learn to reason, explain, and behave reliably. Contributors shape how state-of-the-art AI systems perform on real tasks.

This work is remote and flexible, often part-time, and accessible to specialists who want to apply domain expertise directly to AI development.

Role overview

OpenTrain is hiring a Neuroscience AI Training Expert to review neuroscience-related documents, create annotations and explanations, and develop or evaluate scenario-based questions that improve AI understanding of neuroscience topics.

This is a contract, part-time role (20+ hours/week), remote and open worldwide. Language requirement: English. Employment type: Contractor, Part-time.

  • Pay: USD $60–$80 per hour (PAY_PER_HOUR).
  • Data type: DOCUMENT. Labeling tasks include evaluation/rating, text generation, and question answering.
  • Experience level: Entry level (the role requires advanced neuroscience expertise or equivalent experience).

What you'll do

  • Evaluate neuroscience-related data, research summaries, and case studies for accuracy and relevance.
  • Write clear explanations, annotations, and commentary that translate complex neuroscience concepts into teachable examples.
  • Develop or assess scenario-based questions and exercises grounded in current neuroscience understanding.
  • Identify emerging trends, theories, and methodologies that should inform model reasoning.
  • Verify consistency and scientific integrity against established neuroscience standards and literature.
  • Collaborate with the OpenTrain team to refine deliverables and improve data realism and applicability.

Required qualifications

You must be able to evaluate scientific content and communicate complex concepts clearly. Prior experience specifically in AI training is helpful but not required.

  • Advanced degree such as PhD, MD, or equivalent experience in neuroscience or a closely related field.
  • Proven background in neuroscience research, teaching, consulting, publications, datasets, or educational materials.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to synthesize and communicate complex scientific ideas.
