Why AI training and data-labeling work matters
AI models learn from examples prepared and reviewed by people — the fast-growing field of AI training covers annotation, feedback, and scientific review that shape how models behave. Contributors do remote, flexible, and often part-time work that has direct impact on cutting-edge systems.
Role overview
OpenTrain AI is hiring a Neuroscience Quality Assurance Lead to oversee neuroscience and cognitive science training projects. This remote contractor role focuses on reviewing AI-generated scientific content for accuracy, clarity, instruction-following, and ethical awareness, and on supporting trainer and QA teams with documentation and calibration.
Engagement: contractor, part-time.
Time: 20+ hours per week.
Location: United States only.
Rate: up to $90.00 per hour (PAY_PER_HOUR).
What you'll do
Spot-check AI-generated neuroscience and cognitive science items for factual errors, overclaiming, and neuromyths.
Review explanations, research summaries, experimental interpretations, and step-by-step reasoning for accuracy and clarity.
Evaluate trainer and QA work against project rubrics and provide precise written feedback and corrections.
Maintain and improve style guides, FAQs, examples, honeypots, calibration tasks, trackers, and onboarding materials.
Answer team questions about neural mechanisms, cognition, experimental design, and statistical interpretation.
Support onboarding, calibration, and scalable QA process improvements for neuroscience projects.
Requirements
You must be able to provide scientific review and clear written feedback, and to lead or support remote reviewers and trainers.
Strong background in neuroscience, cognitive science, psychology, neurobiology, computational neuroscience, or a closely related field.
3+ years of experience in neuroscience or cognitive science research, teaching, lab work, scientific review, science communication, experimental design, or data analysis.
Strong written English communication skills for feedback, coordination, and documentation.
Ability to identify neuromyths, unsupported causal claims, flawed study interpretation, incorrect terminology, and misleading clinical implications.
Familiarity with EEG, fMRI, behavioral experiments, computational modeling, statistics, Python, R, or MATLAB is preferred.
Experience supporting or leading remote teams of researchers, reviewers, educators, annotators, science writers, or QAs is strongly preferred.
Who should apply
This role suits an organized scientific reviewer or researcher comfortable working remotely, explaining decisions clearly, and upholding rigorous standards for neuroscience content. Applicants should be able to balance careful line-by-line review with practical guidance that trainers can apply at scale.
