Role Overview

OpenTrain is hiring a Network Data Annotation Engineer to review production network data and convert it into structured inputs for machine learning. You will label logs, configs, telemetry, event streams, and incident patterns and help define schemas used in autonomous networking workflows.

This is a remote contractor, part-time role with an expected commitment of 30 to 40 hours per week. Work is restricted to applicants in the United States and Canada and requires English fluency. Pay is USD $50–$70 per hour.

• Data type: text (logs, configs, telemetry, incident notes).
• Label types: classification and evaluation/rating.

What You'll Do

• Review and organize real-world network data from deployed systems, including logs, configuration text, telemetry streams, and incident reports.
• Label behaviors, issues, anomalies, and incident patterns to create consistent training examples for models.
• Help define and refine annotation schemas and guidelines that support large-scale ML training pipelines.
• Apply troubleshooting judgment to packet analysis, final escalations, and root-cause analysis (RCA) workflows to produce high-quality labels.

Requirements

• Current experience as a Level 3, Tier 3, or Principal Support Engineer (required).
• Enterprise network troubleshooting experience across switches, access points, and firewalls.
• Hands-on Wi‑Fi or wireless expertise with Cisco WLC, Aruba, or Meraki.
• Knowledge of 802.1X/RADIUS and wireless troubleshooting and outage escalation handling.
• Strong packet analysis, troubleshooting, and RCA workflow judgment.
• Comfort working with data intended to support AI model training.
