About AI training work

AI training (data labeling/annotation) is the human work behind better language and multimodal models: preparing transcripts, marking timestamps, describing emotion and intent, and correcting grammar and idiomatic meaning so models learn from high-quality examples.

This industry is largely remote and flexible, making it a great way to contribute to cutting-edge AI while working part-time, on a contractor basis, and from anywhere with an internet connection.

The role

OpenTrain is hiring a Nepali bilingual linguistic reviewer to work on Nepali-language video transcription and linguistic analysis. You will transcribe speech, add precise timestamps, and annotate emotion, tone, grammar, syntax, and idiomatic meaning to improve model outputs and language understanding.

This is a remote, part-time contractor role. The project focuses on VIDEO data with TRANSCRIPTION and linguistic annotation tasks. You must be available for a regular weekly commitment: the role asks for a minimum of 15 hours per week, with typical project expectations around 20+ hours/week.

  • Employment type: Contractor, Part-time
  • Data type: Video; primary label type: Transcription
  • Languages required: Nepali (native/near-native) and professional English
  • Location: Remote — worldwide

What you'll do

You will deliver accurate transcriptions and linguistic judgments that help train and evaluate AI models. Tasks require careful attention to context, speaker intent, and natural language nuance.

  • Transcribe Nepali-language video content with high accuracy and clear formatting
  • Insert precise timestamps for dialogue turns and scene changes
  • Describe speaker emotion, intent, mood shifts, and tone across clips
  • Review grammar, syntax, and contextual meaning of words and idiomatic expressions
  • Provide clear, actionable linguistic feedback and suggestions for improvement
  • Maintain a consistent weekly availability (minimum 15 hours/week; projects often expect 20+ hours/week)

Requirements

We look for contributors with strong bilingual ability, transcription or translation experience, and a detail-oriented mindset for linguistic work.

  • Native or near-native proficiency in Nepali
  • Professional written and verbal communication in English
  • Experience transcribing, translating, or analyzing language content
  • Good understanding of Nepali and English grammar, syntax, and cultural context
  • Ability to analyze tone, emotion, and idiomatic meaning accurately
  • Ability to work independently and pay close attention to linguistic detail
  • Willingness to commit at least 15 hours per week (typical projects expect ~20+ hours/week)

Helpful background (not required)

These qualifications make you an especially strong candidate but are optional. We accept entry-level applicants who meet the core language and transcription requirements.

  • Degree in linguistics, philology, translation studies, or a related field
  • Experience with linguistic annotation, corpus analysis, or transcription tools
  • Background in educational, research, or media translation projects
