About AI training work

AI training (also called data labeling or annotation) is the human work that teaches machines to understand speech, language, and sound. Voice recordings you provide become part of datasets used to train and evaluate speech recognition and synthetic-voice systems.

This kind of work is remote, flexible, and accessible — many projects need only clear speech, steady technique, and a good recording setup rather than prior industry experience.

The role

We’re looking for native Dutch voice actors with a prosumer-or-better recording setup to record scripted dialogue. Recordings are captured directly on OpenTrain’s platform and should be production-ready raw audio with no post-processing.

This is a part-time contractor role; contributors are expected to follow tight technical and performance standards to ensure consistent, high-quality dataset samples.

What you’ll do

You will record scripted Dutch lines solo, delivering natural, confident performances and consistent mic technique. Sessions focus on clear pronunciation, steady pacing, and accurate timing according to provided guidelines.

• Record scripted Dutch dialogue directly on-platform (no post-processing).
• Maintain consistent tone, pacing, and microphone distance across takes.
• Deliver clean, production-ready raw audio with minimal retakes.
• Follow platform guidelines for timing, clarity, and articulation.

Requirements

Candidates must meet strict language, technical, and availability requirements so recordings meet dataset standards.

• Native-level fluency in Dutch with clear pronunciation and natural delivery.
• Fluent English proficiency (per additional requirements).
• Crest Factor: ≥ 10 dB (≥ 13 dB preferred).
• Signal-to-Noise Ratio (A-weighted): ≥ 55 dB.
• Integrated Loudness: ≥ -36 LUFS.
• No noise reduction, compression, or other post-processing — deliver raw audio.
• Ability to follow instructions precisely and produce consistent takes.

Equipment, environment, and audio specs

You must have a professional or high-quality prosumer recording setup and a quiet, treated recording space with no audible echo, reverberation, or background noise. Recordings must have consistent gain and mic positioning.

Acceptable setups include USB condenser microphones (e.g., Rode NT-USB Mini, Rode NT1 5th Gen) or XLR microphones with a quality audio interface (e.g., Audio-Technica AT4040 + Audient iD14 MkII, Sennheiser MK4). Equivalent setups that meet the audio thresholds are acceptable.

• Quiet, controlled recording space with basic acoustic treatment (curtains, foam, carpet).
• No audible echo, reverb, or background noise on recordings.
• Consistent mic technique and gain across sessions.
• Recordings submitted raw; do not apply noise reduction, compression, or other processing.

Availability, pay, and logistics

This contract is part-time and remote. Note: the input information includes both 'Less than 20 hours/week' and an additional requirement of '20 hours or more per week availability' — please disclose your true weekly availability when you apply.

Compensation details in the project materials include an hourly pay band; applicants should review pay information on the OpenTrain posting before accepting assignments. Sessions are scheduled flexibly and recorded on OpenTrain’s internal proprietary tooling.
