The Role

OpenTrain AI is seeking a Music and Lyrics AI Evaluation Expert to assess AI-generated music and lyrics for an AI lab. You will evaluate audio and text outputs across a wide range of genres, apply detailed quality standards, and provide feedback that helps improve generative music AI models.

This is a remote, flexible freelance contractor opportunity open worldwide. The project is expected to last up to six months, with an immediate start date.

What You'll Do

You will combine critical listening, music knowledge, and lyric analysis to assess how well AI-generated outputs meet detailed evaluation criteria.

• Listen to AI-generated music across a wide range of genres and apply detailed quality criteria.
• Compare AI-generated lyrics with published songs to identify similarities.
• Rate lyrics for quality, creativity, prompt adherence, and originality.
• Evaluate the naturalness of lyrics, including word choice, slang, and regional expressions.
• Provide consistent assessments and feedback that support improvements to generative music AI models.

Required Qualifications

This role is suited to people with substantial familiarity with music creation, performance, criticism, or contemporary music culture. You must be able to evaluate both audio quality and written lyrics carefully and consistently.

• Experience as a songwriter, lyricist, performer, composer, or music journalist.
• Strong understanding of contemporary music genres, sub-genres, and artists.
• Native or bilingual English proficiency, including US, UK, and Australian idioms and slang.
• Ability to evaluate AI-generated lyrics for quality, creativity, prompt adherence, originality, and naturalness.
• Critical listening skills and access to headphones or studio monitors.

• Formal training in music performance, music theory, or composition.
• Credited or published songwriting work.
