The role
You will serve as a Molecular Biology Sequence Design Expert focused on designing and reviewing DNA and RNA constructs used as training examples. The work centers on creating accurate solutions and evaluating model outputs for correctness and reasoning.
This is a contract, part-time role starting with an initial cohort of roughly 50–100 design tasks and the possibility of extension based on project needs and performance.
What you'll do
Design and review DNA and RNA sequence constructs (primers, plasmids, RNAs, repair templates) prior to experiments.
Author clear, well-documented expert solutions that serve as ground truth for model training.
Evaluate AI-generated outputs against expert solutions and provide written feedback on correctness, rigor, and reasoning.
Collaborate with other subject-matter experts to maintain consistency and quality across the training set.
Complete an initial set of approximately 50–100 design tasks with careful documentation and justification for each decision.
Minimum requirements
Hands-on experience designing nucleic-acid sequences for experimental use (primers, plasmids, RNAs, repair templates).
Current practice or recent practice as a molecular biologist.
Ability to write accurate, reproducible ground-truth scientific solutions and justify design choices in writing.
Strong judgment for evaluating AI outputs on correctness and reasoning.
Able to work 20+ hours per week as a contractor; must be located in the United Kingdom and fluent in English.
Preferred qualifications
Advanced degree (MS, PhD) in molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry, synthetic biology, bioengineering, or a related life-science field is strongly preferred.
Peer-reviewed publication record in respected life-science venues (Nature, bioRxiv, CSHL Press, eLife, or similar).
Experience contributing expert feedback on technical or scientific work and familiarity with construct design workflows.
Logistics, pay, and format
Employment type: Contract, part-time. Time commitment: 20+ hours per week to start. Location: United Kingdom only; English required.
Compensation: USD $70–$105 per hour (rate band provided in posting). Work is remote and asynchronous; tasks are document-style (designs and evaluations). Labeling task types include evaluation/rating and text-generation.
