About AI training work
AI training (also called data labeling or annotation) is the human side of building modern models: people collect and curate the examples models learn from. This field is highly remote-friendly, often part-time and flexible, and offers accessible entry points for people with attention to detail and device literacy.
Work remotely from home with a smartphone and internet connection.
Great for flexible, part-time contracting: fit work around other commitments.
No prior AI experience required — reliable execution and following protocols matter most.
The role
You will be a contractor responsible for collecting high-fidelity motion (IMU) data and synchronized first-person video from a smartphone while performing specified physical tasks. Submissions must meet strict quality and determinism standards and follow detailed technical protocols.
This is an entry-level, part-time role with less than 20 hours per week expectation. OpenTrain will manage milestones and review cycles; you will perform device checks, record sessions, and deliver validated data according to the project guidelines.
What you'll do
Record motion data using your phone's sensor suite (accelerometer, gyroscope) during specified movement tasks.
Capture synchronized first-person video to validate sensor data integrity and timing.
Perform device compatibility checks (before starting work) to ensure your phone meets project requirements.
Follow standardized, detailed technical instructions so submissions pass quality checks.
Communicate with the OpenTrain team to clarify instructions and improve collection processes.
Deliver reliable, timely outputs aligned with project milestones and feedback.
Requirements
You must have the required equipment and the ability to follow precise protocols. Safety and consistent execution during repetitive movement tasks are essential.
Access to a compatible smartphone: iPhone 12 or later, Google Pixel 6 or later, or Samsung Galaxy S21 or later.
Access to a head strap or similar hands-free recording setup for first-person video.
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English (en).
Comfort performing repetitive physical movement tasks safely and accurately.
Ability to follow standardized technical protocols with close attention to detail.
Available to work less than 20 hours per week as a contractor (part-time).
Compensation, location, and schedule
Pay is $10.00 USD per hour. This role is offered as a contractor, part-time position with a typical commitment under 20 hours per week.
This posting is open to applicants located in the following eligible countries: Albania (AL), Bulgaria (BG), Croatia (HR), Cyprus (CY), Czechia (CZ), Estonia (EE), Greece (GR), Lithuania (LT), Malta (MT), Moldova (MD), Montenegro (ME), Poland (PL), Portugal (PT), Romania (RO), Serbia (RS), Slovakia (SK), Slovenia (SI), and Spain (ES).
Who should apply
This role is a good fit for people with mobile-device literacy, steady hands, and a habit of following technical instructions. No prior AI or labeling experience is required — bring the right devices, attention to detail, and reliable communication.
Entry-level applicants who meet the device and equipment requirements.
People comfortable recording and submitting consistent motion and video data.
How it works
Create an OpenTrain account (free), apply to the project, and complete an initial device compatibility check and brief onboarding. You will receive detailed collection protocols and sample sessions to follow. Submitted data will be reviewed and either approved or sent back with feedback for correction.
Expect remote collaboration with the OpenTrain team: ask clarifying questions, follow iteration feedback, and deliver milestone-based uploads on schedule.
