The Role

OpenTrain AI is recruiting a Microbiology AI Training Expert to help train next-generation AI systems with scientific expertise in microbiology. You will investigate microorganisms, document experimental findings, assess data quality using rubrics and established evaluation criteria, and provide clear written and verbal scientific input for AI training workflows.

The work covers bacteria, fungi, algae, microbial structure and physiology, disease relationships, and the effects of antibiotics and other agents on microbial populations. This is a worldwide, remote contractor position conducted in English, with part-time availability of 20 or more hours per week.

What You'll Do

You will combine scientific analysis with careful evaluation and documentation. Your work will help maintain rigor and data integrity across AI training projects involving microbiology and disease.

  • Review and analyze the development, morphology, and behavior of microscopic organisms
  • Contribute microbiology expertise to projects involving microorganisms and disease
  • Assess microbial responses to antibiotics and other agents to support model accuracy
  • Document findings and processes clearly for AI training data
  • Use rubrics and evaluation criteria to support data quality and AI training workflows
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to maintain scientific rigor and data integrity

Requirements

This role is listed as entry level, but it requires substantial microbiology knowledge and a strong foundation in scientific evaluation. Candidates should be able to work independently in a remote, digital-first environment while maintaining accuracy and clear communication.
