About AI Training and Data Labeling

AI training is the human side of building artificial intelligence. Experts review documents, assess model outputs, write evaluations, and provide high-quality feedback so AI systems can produce more accurate and useful results.

Specialists with engineering knowledge are especially valuable for technical evaluation projects. Your reviews can help ensure that AI-generated analysis reflects sound assumptions, calculations, standards, and professional practice.

  • Work remotely with a computer and internet connection
  • Choose a flexible workload that fits around other commitments
  • Contribute to the development of cutting-edge AI systems

The Role

OpenTrain is recruiting a MEP Engineering Reviewer for Data Centers to review and strengthen complex engineering tasks in mission-critical data-center environments. You will assess realistic design and field scenarios, identify gaps in task materials, and confirm that expected outputs and grading methods reflect professional engineering practice.

The work covers document-based evaluation and rating of technical tasks involving mechanical, electrical, plumbing, process, controls, commissioning, and related data-center systems.

  • Role: MEP Engineering Reviewer for Data Centers
  • Data type: Technical documents and machine-readable data
  • Work type: Evaluation and rating
  • Employment type: Part-time contractor
  • Worldwide remote opportunity
  • Language: English

What You’ll Do

You will review tasks involving data-center cooling, hydronic and process-water systems, coolant distribution units, heat exchangers, HVAC and equipment integration, electrical systems, building controls, and commissioning.

You will identify ambiguity, conflicting documents, missing constraints, or unrealistic deliverables. You will then improve prompts, supporting artifacts, acceptance criteria, rubrics, and programmatic checks before validating corrected tasks end to end.

  • Check engineering assumptions and calculations
  • Review applicable codes, standards, equipment data, and operating sequences
  • Assess redundancy, system integration, and constructability
  • Interpret drawings, schedules, calculations, equipment submittals, and large document sets
  • Produce clear technical findings and explain engineering issues in writing
  • Validate corrected tasks from initial review through final acceptance

Requirements

Relevant experience in data-center or other mission-critical MEP design, controls, commissioning, or operations is required. Suitable backgrounds include mechanical, electrical, plumbing, process, controls, BAS, commissioning, MEP design management, or technical leadership.

Strong knowledge of data-center systems and relevant codes and standards is important. You should be able to interpret complex technical materials, apply sound engineering judgment, and work independently on remote contractor tasks.

  • Data-center or other mission-critical MEP design, controls, commissioning, or operations experience
  • Working knowledge of cooling, hydronic and process-water systems, HVAC, electrical systems, building controls, and commissioning
  • Ability to check engineering calculations, assumptions, codes, standards, equipment data, redundancy, and constructability
  • Ability to interpret drawings, schedules, equipment submittals, and large technical document sets
  • Clear written communication of technical findings and engineering judgment
  • Careful attention to detail and ability to work independently
  • A PE license or recognized commissioning credential is preferred
  • The listing identifies this opportunity as entry level, while the role requires relevant specialized experience
