Mechanical Engineering Expert
Pay: $80–$150/hour
Location: Global, fully remote
Job Type: Contractor (~15 hours per week)
Schedule: Flexible—you choose the hours and days you work, including weekends if desired
-We are looking for a highly skilled Mechanical Engineering Expert to contribute to an AI training project involving engineering design, physical modeling, simulation, technical problem-solving, and Python.
-The work involves creating, solving, reviewing, and validating engineering tasks across structural, thermal, mechanical, and multiphysics domains. A representative task may require translating physical requirements into a computational model, generating the required geometry or mesh, applying materials and boundary conditions, running an engineering simulation, and determining whether the resulting artifact and analysis satisfy the applicable physical and design constraints.
-This is a very coding heavy role. Candidates but have experience using coding agents with python in their workflow.
What You’ll Work On:
-Solve and validate mechanical-engineering problems involving design, analysis, simulation, testing, or R&D.
-Translate physical systems and engineering requirements into analytical or computational models.
-Create or modify geometry, meshes, materials, loads, contacts, constraints, and solver inputs.
-Perform structural, thermal, dynamic, fatigue, buckling, vibration, or related analyses.
-Use Python to automate model preparation, simulation, parameter sweeps, optimization, postprocessing, and verification.
Required Qualifications:
-An MS or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline; or
-A BS in Mechanical Engineering plus at least 1–2 years of relevant professional experience in mechanical design, analysis, simulation, testing, or R&D.
-Strong understanding of applied mechanics and mechanical-engineering fundamentals.
-Experience developing analytical, computational, or simulation-based engineering solutions.
-Practical proficiency with
-Python and coding agents.
-Relevant tools may include CalculiX, Gmsh, Elmer, FEniCSx, CadQuery, OpenSCAD, OpenFOAM, or similar programmatic engineering software. Experience with an equivalent CLI-accessible tool is acceptable.
-Relevant Python tools may include NumPy, SciPy, SymPy, pandas, Matplotlib, Jupyter, CAD or meshing APIs, finite-element libraries, optimization packages, or domain-specific scientific tools. No single library is mandatory.
Process:
-Apply to the role and complete the screening questions.
-Complete an AI interview of approximately 30 minutes.
-Complete the hiring manager review.
Compensation Structure:
-Compensation is output-based. Experts are paid per task that meets the project specifications. The time required to complete each task may vary depending on the expert’s experience and workflow.
-Minimum submission requirements apply.
Start Timeline & Availability:
-We typically fill roles within 48 hours and are looking for experts who are ready to begin immediately. If selected, you will be expected to start your first task within 24–48 hours of completing onboarding.
