You will create realistic mechanical engineering problems and scenarios, then assess AI-generated technical content. Your reviews will focus on whether the work is accurate, practical, manufacturable, clear, and consistent with engineering standards.
You will provide structured written feedback that identifies errors and explains how the work could be improved.
- Create expert-level problems based on manufactured, tested, or approved parts, assemblies, and analyses.
- Review AI-generated responses for technical accuracy, manufacturability, practical feasibility, and alignment with engineering practice.
- Evaluate models, drawings, tolerances, calculations, and finite element analysis results for correctness and defensibility.
- Decide whether technical work is clear and robust enough for another reviewer to dimension against.
- Explain complex mechanical engineering concepts clearly in written feedback.
What it pays and takes
This is flexible, part-time contract work that you can complete at your own pace alongside employment or studies. The role is listed as entry level, but the work requires substantial mechanical engineering knowledge and practical experience.
- Pay: Up to $90 per hour.
- Time: 20 or more hours per week.
- Location: Open to candidates based in the United States.
- Language: English.
- Education: A bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degree in mechanical engineering or a closely related engineering field.
- Experience: Hands-on experience as a mechanical engineer or engineering student with work that was manufactured, tested, or approved.
- Technical depth in parametric solid modeling built to tolerance, GD&T drawing interpretation, standards-based calculations, or finite element analysis validated against hand calculations.
- Strong written communication, careful attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a remote, asynchronous setting.
Helpful background
Experience with SolidWorks, Creo, NX, CATIA, Inventor, Fusion 360, ANSYS, Abaqus, Nastran, MATLAB, or comparable tools is useful. Experience creating manufacturing-ready drawings or models for machining, sheet metal, casting, injection molding, or additive manufacturing can also help.
Background with a manufacturer, product design firm, aerospace or defense contractor, automotive supplier, or advanced mechanical engineering studies may support success in this work.
