You will help evaluate AI systems that reason about mechanical design. The work centers on complex, multi-part CAD assemblies and requires you to explain whether technical answers are accurate, complete, and supported by the model.
You will document design intent, constraints, critical decisions, failure points, reasoning, traceability, edge cases, and areas of disagreement.
- Analyze multi-part mechanical assemblies and identify how their design works.
- Write challenging, non-obvious technical questions about CAD assemblies.
- Verify defensible answers directly from CAD models.
- Review AI-generated mechanical reasoning for inaccurate or incomplete conclusions.
- Recommend targeted improvements and refine unclear or unanswerable questions.
What it pays and takes
This is a remote, part-time contractor project for people with substantial mechanical design experience. The listing is marked entry level, but the role requires at least five years of experience creating and overseeing multi-part mechanical assemblies.
- Pay: $40-$90 per hour.
- Time: Approximately 15 hours per week, under 20 hours weekly.
- Location: Remote, with eligibility limited to the countries listed in the posting.
- Language: Strong written English communication skills.
- CAD: Mastery of at least one major parametric CAD tool, such as SolidWorks, Creo, NX, CATIA, Inventor, Fusion, Onshape, or Solid Edge.
- Technical knowledge: Design intent, assembly reasoning, mechanisms, kinematics, GD&T, and tolerance judgment.
- Professional background: Experience in industrial machinery, robotics, automotive, aerospace, medical devices, consumer products, or tooling and fixture design.
- Helpful experience: Teaching, mentoring, leading design reviews, or coaching engineering teams.

About AI training work
AI training is the human work behind systems that learn from examples, including reviewing model answers and checking technical reasoning. People with specialized experience help make those examples accurate and useful, which is why this work can draw on professional engineering knowledge.
